It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I bought olive oil in the market. When the deal was concluded, a man met me and offered me a very good profit on it. I wanted to strike the deal with him right then, but a man took hold of my arm from behind. I turned around and saw that it was Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "Do not sell it at the place where you bought it until you take it to your home or lodging, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling goods at the place where they were bought until the merchants move them to their own lodgings."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is "sahih", and this chain is "hasan", because Muhammad bin Ishaq explicitly stated that he heard it (directly), as recorded by Imam Ahmad and others, and there is also corroboration for him. Note / Clarification: Abu al-Zinad refers to Abd Allah bin Dhakwan. It was narrated by Abu Dawud (3499) through the chain of Muhammad bin Awf al-Ta'i. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad (35/ 21668) and Ibn Hibban (4984) with the chain Ibrahim bin Sa'd, from Muhammad bin Ishaq. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Muhammad bin Ishaq was corroborated by Jarir bin Hazim in the narrations of Imam al-Tahawi, al-Tabarani (4781) and al-Daraqutni (2829), and this chain is "sahih". Juristic point: Imam al-Tahawi says that Ibn Umar's taking this matter in this hadith from Zayd apparently seems to conflict with his own narration (not to sell grain before receiving it). The answer to this is that perhaps Ibn Umar did not count "olive oil" (zayt) as food (ta'am), since it is used as a condiment, and his own view was that things other than grain may be sold before taking possession. But when Zayd narrated the hadith to him, he learned that olive oil too has the ruling of grain, so he refrained from selling it.
