بِمَ يَسْتَحِلُّ أَحَدُكُمْ مَالَ أَخِيهِ إِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ جَائِحَةٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ؟
By what right would any of you take his brother's money if a calamity from the sky struck his crop?

حدَّثَناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا بَحْر بن نصر، حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب، أخبرني مالك بن أنس، عن حُميد الطويل، عن أنس بن مالك، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "أرأيتَ إن منعَ الله الثَّمرةَ، فبِمَ يَستحِلُّ أحدُكُم مالَ أخيهِ؟! " (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you think, if Allah withholds the fruit, then on what basis would any of you consider his brother's wealth lawful?!"

Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
وأخرجه مسلم (1555) عن أبي الطاهر بن السرح، عن ابن وهب، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: In Sahih Muslim (1555), it is narrated from Ibn al-Sarh through this same chain of Ibn Wahb.
وأخرجه البخاري (2198)، والنسائي (6072)، وابن حبان (4990) من طرق عن مالك، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (2198), al-Nasa'i (6072) and Ibn Hibban narrated it through various routes from Imam Malik.
وأخرجه البخاري أيضًا (2208)، ومسلم (1555) من طريق إسماعيل بن جعفر، ومسلم (1555) من طريق عبد العزيز بن محمد، كلاهما عن حميد الطويل، به.
