نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الشَّاةِ بِاللَّحْمِ

حدَّثَناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، أخبرنا الرَّبيع، أخبرنا الشافعي، أخبرنا مالك، عن زيد بن أسلم، عن سعيد بن المسيّب: أنَّ النبي ﷺ نَهى عن بيع اللَّحْم بالحَيوان (1).
It is narrated in mursal form from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling meat in exchange for a live animal.

(1) صحيح الإسناد إلى سعيد بن المسيب، وهو مرسل، ومراسيل سعيد من أصح المراسيل وأقواها. وقال ابن عبد البر 4/ 322: إسناد هذا المرسل أحسن أسانيد الحديث.
Grading: This chain is "sahih" up to Sa'id bin al-Musayyab, but it is "mursal", and the mursal reports of Sa'id are considered the strongest of all mursal reports; according to Ibn Abd al-Barr, this is the best chain of this hadith.
وهو في "موطأ مالك" 2/ 655.

وأخرج مالك أيضًا 2/ 655 عن داود بن الحصين، أنه سمع سعيد بن المسيب يقول: من مَيسِر أهل الجاهلية بيع الحيوان باللحم بالشاة والشاتين.
Reference / Source: Imam Malik narrated from Dawud bin al-Husayn that Sa'id bin al-Musayyab used to declare the sale of a live animal for meat to be a form of the gambling (maysir) of the pre-Islamic era.
وأخرج أيضًا 2/ 655 عن أبي الزِّناد، عن سعيد بن المسيب أنه كان يقول: نُهي عن بيع الحيوان باللحم.
Reference / Source: It is also narrated from Abu al-Zinad, from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab, that the sale of a live animal for meat has been prohibited.
