It is narrated that Sayyiduna Zayd bin Sa'nah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the great scholars of the Jews, came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to demand his debt. He seized the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) cloak by his right shoulder, pulled it and said: O Banu Abd al-Muttalib! You are people who delay payment, and I know you well. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) rebuked him, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar! He and I needed a different conduct from you: that you should have urged me to repay well and urged him to demand well. Go, O Umar, and pay him his due. Three days still remain of his term, and give him thirty sa' extra because you frightened him."
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The chain is "weak": Bakr bin Sahl al-Dimyati is a weak narrator, and the only one who narrates from Hamzah bin Muhammad is his son; he is majhul al-hal (of unknown status) Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Imam al-Mizzi called this hadith "hasan" and al-Dhahabi declared it "mursal", it will also come as connected at number (6692), on which Imam al-Dhahabi passed the verdict that it is munkar. Note / Clarification: Abd Allah bin Salim refers to al-Ash'ari al-Wuhazi. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tahawi narrated it in "Sharh Mushkil al-Athar" (4330), and at its end are these words: "Give him thirty sa' more (for your harsh reply to him)". Reference / Source: Ibn al-Mundhir and Abu Nu'aym narrated it by way of Abd Allah bin Salim; with Ibn al-Mundhir this narration is lengthy, but there the name has been distorted into "Abd al-Salam". Technical note / Defect ('illah): In al-Daraqutni's narration, Baqiyyah bin al-Walid added an unnamed (mubham) man to the chain, and such narrations of Baqiyyah are not reliable. Note / Clarification: "Al-jabdh" in the language is the same as "al-jadhb" (pulling). Note / Clarification: "Fazidhu li-tadwirika 'alayh" means: give him more because you rolled your eyes at him in anger and frightened him.
