Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2181

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن سِنان القزّاز، حدثنا وهب بن جَرير، حدثنا أبي، قال: سمعت يحيى بن أيوب يحدِّث عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب، عن عبد الرحمن بن شُمَاسة، عن عُقْبة بن عامر الجُهَني، قال: سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "المسلمُ أخو المسلمِ، ولا يَحِلُّ لمسلمٍ إن باع من أخيه بيعًا فيه عَيبٌ أن لا يُبيِّنَه له" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim, and it is not lawful for a Muslim to sell to his brother anything that has a defect unless he makes it fully clear to him (the buyer)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن كما قال الحافظ ابن حجر في "الفتح" 7/ 50، يحيى بن أيوب - وهو الغافقي - صدوق حسن الحديث، ومحمد بن سنان القزاز حسن الحديث في المتابعات والشواهد، وقد توبع.
Grading: According to al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar this chain is
hasan. Yahya bin Ayyub is saduq, and Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz is hasan al-hadith in corroborating chains.
جرير: هو ابن حازم.
Identification of the narrator: Jarir here means "Jarir bin Hazim".
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (2246) عن محمد بن بشار، عن وهب بن جرير، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ibn Majah narrated it via the chain of Muhammad bin Bashshar.
وأخرجه أحمد 28/ (17451) من طريق عبد الله بن لهيعة، عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad transmitted it by way of Ibn Lahi'ah through Yazid bin Abi Habib.
