It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) (and al-A'mash said: I consider it to be attributed to none other than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Deliberation and calm are good in everything except in the work of the Hereafter (for in it one should hasten)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: It is da'if as a marfu' report. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although Abd al-Wahid bin Ziyad is thiqah, his narration from al-A'mash has been criticised, especially when he is contradicted. Here the most reliable of al-A'mash's students, Sufyan al-Thawri, contradicted him and reported it as the saying of Umar (mawquf). Important point: There is also a break (inqita') in this chain, because Malik bin al-Harith did not meet Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Isma'il bin Muslim al-Makki corroborated Sufyan al-Thawri in reporting it as the saying of Umar. Grading: Although Isma'il bin Muslim was a jurist, he is regarded as da'if in hadith. Reference: Ibn Abi al-Dunya and al-Bayhaqi narrated it. Reference / Source: The hadith of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) was narrated by Abu Dawud (4810) by way of Affan bin Muslim. Note / Clarification: "Al-Tu'dah" means forbearance, composure, and taking one's time in a matter instead of hastening.
