Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2111

أخبرني أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله الورّاق، حدثنا الحسن بن سُفيان، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن نُمير، حدثنا أبي، حدثنا طلحة بن يحيى، أخبرني أبو بُردة، عن أبي موسى: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ بعث معاذًا وأبا موسى إلى اليمن، وأمَرهما أن يُعلّما الناسَ القرآنَ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه هكذا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Mu'adh and Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with them both) to Yemen and ordered them to teach the people the Qur'an.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it in this form.

(1) إسناده حسن من أجل طلحة بن يحيى: وهو ابن طلحة بن عُبيد الله التيمي. أبو بُردة: هو ابن أبي موسى الأشعري صحابي الحديث.
Grading: Because of Talhah bin Yahya al-Taymi its chain is "hasan". Abu Burdah is the son of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, who is the Companion who narrates this hadith.
وأخرجه أحمد 32/ (19544) عن عبد الله بن نمير، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in the same way through the chain of 'Abd Allah bin Numayr.
