It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young and does not recognise the right (and rank) of our elders."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, because he used Abdullah bin Amir al-Yahsubi as evidence, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. Its supporting report (shahid) is the well-known hadith which Muhammad bin Ishaq and others narrated from Amr bin Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather. In the hadith of Ikrimah from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) there are also the words: "and he enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong", but I have left it out here because its narrator is Layth bin Abi Sulaym (who is weak).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Error: Al-Hakim made an error here: he took the narrator's name to be "Abd Allah bin Amir al-Yahsubi" and declared it sahih on the condition of Muslim, whereas the correct name is "Ubayd Allah bin Amir al-Makki" (who is not one of the narrators of al-Bukhari and Muslim). Important point: Al-Bayhaqi also pointed out this mistake; however, Yahya bin Ma'in declared Ubayd Allah trustworthy. Reference / Source: Ahmad (11/7073) and Abu Dawud (4943) narrated it through the chain of Sufyan bin Uyaynah. Reference / Source: Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi narrated it through the well-known chain "Amr bin Shu'ayb from his father from his grandfather". (426). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic, the narration of Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) will come further on at number (426). (6733). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) will come at number (7540). The other hadiths on this topic can be seen under the Musnad of Ahmad (6733).
Grading: The narrator Layth bin Abi Sulaym is da'if because of his poor memory and the idtirab (inconsistency) in his hadith. (458). Reference / Source: This narration of Ibn Abbas is found in the Musnad of Ahmad, al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Hibban. Technical note / Correction: The name of Layth has dropped out of the chain of Ibn Hibban, which is a mistake.
