أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ الْمَغْلُوبُونَ الضُّعَفَاءُ ، وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ كُلُّ جَعْظَرِيٍّ جَوَّاظٍ مُسْتَكْبِرٍ
The people of Paradise are the weak and overpowered, and the people of the Fire are every harsh, gluttonous and arrogant one

أخبرنا أبو بكر أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه ببغداد، حدثنا جعفر بن أبي عثمان الطَّيالسي، حدثنا سهل بن بكَّار، حدثنا حمَّاد سَلَمة، عن قتادة، عن سعيد بن المسيّب، عن أبي هريرة، عن النبي ﷺ فيما يَحْكي عن ربَّه ﷿ قال: "الكبرياءُ رِدَائي، فمن نازَعَني رِدائي قَصَمتُه" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يخرجاه بهذا اللفظ، إنما أخرجه مسلم من حديث الأغرِّ عن أبي هريرة بغير هذا اللفظ (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), relating from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, said: "Grandeur is My cloak, so whoever contends with Me over this cloak of Mine (the attribute of grandeur) (that is, behaves arrogantly), I will shatter him."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but they did not record it with these words, whereas Muslim recorded it through the hadith of al-Agharr from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) with (other) wording than this.

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "الأسماء والصفات" (122) من طريق يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، عن سهل بن بكار، بهذا الإسناد، وقرن بقتادة عليَّ بن زيد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Asma' wa al-Sifat" (122) with this same chain of Sahl bin Bakkar, and he mentioned Ali bin Zayd alongside Qatadah.
(2) هو في "صحيح مسلم" (2620) من حديث الأغر عن أبي سعيد وأبي هريرة قالا: قال ¤ ¤ رسول الله ﷺ: "العزُّ إزارُه، والكبرياء رداؤه، فمن ينازعني عذَّبتُه". وانظر تمام تخريجه في "مسند أحمد" 12 (7382).
Reference / Source: This hadith is in "Sahih Muslim" (2620), narrated from Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Might is His lower garment and grandeur is His cloak; whoever contends with Me over them, I will punish him."
Scholarly guidance: Its full takhrij can be seen in the Musnad of Ahmad (12/7382).
