It is narrated from Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while four thousand date stones lay before me with which I was glorifying Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O daughter of Huyayy, what is this?" I said: I am glorifying Allah with them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Since I came and stood by you, I have glorified Allah more than this." I said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me as well. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say: 'Subhan Allahi 'adada ma khalaqa min shay'in' (Glory be to Allah, as many times as the number of everything He has created)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it, and there is also a supporting narration (shahid) for it in a hadith of the Egyptian narrators whose chain is even more sahih than this one.

Grading: According to al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar it is "hasan". Although Hashim bin Sa'id is weak, on the basis of other routes narrated from Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and the supporting reports it can be graded hasan. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi recorded it through the chain of Abd al-Samad bin Abd al-Warith. Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "gharib" and said that its chain is not well known. Discussion of the chain: According to al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar it has another route through the chain of "Hudayj bin Mu'awiyah", and Hudayj, despite being weak, is accepted in corroborating chains. Discussion of the chain: The narrations of al-Tabarani mention "Yazid, the freed slave of Safiyyah", about whose father's name there is disagreement; he is a Successor against whom there is no criticism, so he is taken into account in supporting reports. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The next hadith of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) is also a supporting report for it.
