حدثنا إبراهيم بن عِصمة، حدثنا أبي، حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى، أخبرنا أبو معاوية، حدثنا الأعمش، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي عُبيدة، قال: سُئل عبدُ الله عن الدعاءِ الذي دعَوتَ به حين قال النبيُّ ﷺ: "سَل تُعْطَهْ"، قال: قلتُ: اللهمَّ إني أسألُك إيمانًا لا يَرتدُّ، ونَعيمًا لا يَنفَدْ، ومُرافقةَ نبيِّك محمدٍ ﷺ في أعلى دَرَجِ الجنةِ جنةِ الخُلْد (1).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the supplication he had made when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask, and you will be given." He said: I said: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka imanan la yartadd, wa na'iman la yanfad, wa murafaqata nabiyyika Muhammadin (peace and blessings be upon him) fi a'la darajil-jannati jannatil-khuld' (O Allah, I ask You for faith that never fades, for a blessing that never ends, and I seek the companionship of Your Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the highest ranks of the Garden of Eternity).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد رجاله ثقات لكنه منقطع كما تقدم بيانه برقم (1942) حيث تقدَّم الحديث هناك من طريق شعبة بن الحجاج، عن أبي إسحاق - وهو عمرو بن عبد الله السَّبيعي - وتقدَّم تخريج طرقه هناك. يحيى بن يحيى: هو النيسابوري.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, although this chain is munqati' (the son did not hear from the father), but it is supported by other reliable routes, as passed at number (1942).
وأخرجه النسائي (10639) عن محمد بن العلاء أبي كريب، عن أبي معاوية، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Nasa'i narrated it with this same chain via the route of Abu Mu'awiyah.
