It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were walking with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in one of the gardens of Madinah when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Hurayrah!" I said: O Messenger of Allah! Here I am. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who have much wealth are the ones who will have little (of reward on the Day of Resurrection), except for the one who spends his wealth like this and like this (that is, in charity in every direction)" - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to his right and to his left - "and such people are very few." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Hurayrah! Shall I not tell you of a treasure from among the treasures of Paradise?" I said: Certainly, O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, wa la malja'a wa la manja minallahi illa ilayh' (There is no ability to avoid sin and no strength to do good except through the help of Allah, and there is no refuge and no escape from Allah except to Him)." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Hurayrah! Do you know what the right of Allah is over His servants, and what the right of the servants is over Allah?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The right of Allah over the servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him, and the right of the servants over Allah is that He does not punish anyone who does not associate partners with Him."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it in this form.
