Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1905

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever says three times: 'Astaghfirullahal-ladhi la ilaha illa huwal-Hayyul-Qayyumu wa atubu ilayh' (I seek forgiveness from Allah, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all, and I turn to Him in repentance), his sins are forgiven, even if he had fled from the battlefield."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is strong on account of Muhammad bin Sabiq, who has been corroborated. Abu Sinan: he is Dirar bin Murrah; and Abu al-Ahwas: he is Awf bin Malik al-Jushami.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bayhaqi in "al-Da'awat" (161) with this same chain of al-Hakim.
Details of the narration: It will come with the author (al-Hakim) at no. (2582) via Muhammad bin Yusuf al-Firyabi from Isra'il.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (10/ 300) made it "mawquf" on Ibn Mas'ud, but since it is established as marfu', this does no harm.
Grading: Al-Tabarani (8541) narrated it as mawquf via Hudayj bin Mu'awiyah, but this chain is weak on account of Hudayj's weakness.
