It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say on the day of the Farewell Hajj: "Worship your Lord, pray your five (prayers), fast your month (of Ramadan), pay the zakah of your wealth, and obey those in authority over you; you will enter the Paradise of your Lord."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, and we know of no hidden defect ('illah) in it, but both of them did not record it, although Imam Muslim used the hadiths of Sulaym bin Amir as evidence, and all the other narrators are agreed upon.
Grading: (1) Its chain is "sahih". Reference / Source: Ahmad (36/ 22258) narrated it from Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi, from Mu'awiyah bin Salih, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (22260) also narrated it by way of Luqman bin 'Amir, from Abu Umamah. Note / Clarification: It will come at (1452) and (1759) through two other routes from Mu'awiyah bin Salih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) The printed edition has "al-Bukhari and Muslim", which is wrong, because al-Bukhari did not rely on the hadiths of "Sulaym bin 'Amir" or of "Mu'awiyah bin Salih". Both of them are narrators of "Muslim" only.
