It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever any Muslim is afflicted with worry or grief and says: 'Allahumma inni 'abduka, wabnu amatik, nasiyati bi-yadik, madin fiyya hukmuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bi-kulli-smin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, awista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'alal-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa jala'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi' (O Allah, I am Your servant and the son of Your female servant; my forelock is in Your hand; Your command over me prevails, and every decree of Yours concerning me is perfectly just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, with which You have named Yourself, or which You have sent down in Your Book, or which You have taught to any of Your creation, or which You have kept with Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, (and my request is) that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the remedy of my grief and the means of removing my worry), then Allah Almighty removes his worry and turns his grief into joy." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we not learn these words? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Certainly; whoever hears them should learn them."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, provided there is no concern of irsal (a break in the chain) in Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah's narration from his father, for there is disagreement about whether he heard from his father.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is weak on account of Abu Salamah al-Juhani being unknown (majhul). Important point: Imam al-Dhahabi, objecting to al-Hakim, said that Abu Salamah is unknown and has no narration in the six books. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad and Ibn Hibban (972) with the chain Yazid bin Harun from Fudayl bin Marzuq.
Technical note: We have earlier, at no. (278), judged it preponderant that Abd al-Rahman's hearing a small amount from his father is established.
