Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1852

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty is extremely modest and generous; He is too modest before His servant, when he spreads out his hands before Him, to then return them empty (and disappointed)."

Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" for corroboration and support because of Ja'far bin Maymun, who has some weakness but is taken into consideration, and he has been corroborated in narrating the hadith as marfu'.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (39/23715) narrated it from Yazid bin Harun, from a man in the gathering of Amr bin Ubayd, from Abu Uthman, with this chain. Yazid said afterwards: they named him for me, saying he is Ja'far bin Maymun.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (1488) narrated it by way of Isa bin Yunus, and Ibn Majah (3815), al-Tirmidhi (3556) and Ibn Hibban (876) by way of Ibn Abi Adi, both from Ja'far bin Maymun. Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan gharib" and mentioned that some narrated it without making it marfu'.
Repetition: This narration will come later as marfu' by way of Muhammad bin al-Zibriqan from Sulayman al-Taymi under number (1983).
