أخبرنا عبد الصمد بن علي البزَّاز ببغداد، حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن شاكر، حدثنا مُعلَّى بن أَسَد العَمِّي، حدثني عُمر (2) بن محمد الأسْلَمي، عن ثابت البُنَاني، عن أنس بن مالك، عن النبي ﷺ قال: "لا تَعْجِزوا في الدُّعاء، فإنه لا يَهلِكُ مع الدعاء أَحدٌ" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not be helpless (and lazy) in supplicating, for no one perishes while he has supplication."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) في النسخ الخطية: عمرو، وهو خطأ صوابه ما أثبتنا، وبسبب هذا التحريف الذي وقع في نسخ "المستدرك" قال الذهبي في "تلخيصه": لا أعرف عمرًا، تعبتُ عليه. قلنا: وهو عمر بن محمد بن صهبان الأسلمي، كما جاء مصرَّحًا به في "أخبار أصبهان" 2/ 232 لأبي نعيم، و"الكامل" لابن عدي 5/ 13 حيث أخرج هذا الحديث من طريق معلى بن أسد بهذا الإسناد في ترجمة عمر بن محمد بن صهبان، وعمر هذا له ترجمة في "تهذيب الكمال" 21/ 398 - 399، وترجم العقيلي في "الضعفاء" 3/ 50: عمر بن محمد عن ثابت، ثم قال: ولا يتابع عليه ولا يعرف إلّا به. ¤ ¤ ثم أخرج هذا الحديث عن جده عن معلى بن أسد.
Technical note: In the manuscripts the name is wrongly written "Amr"; the correct name is Umar bin Muhammad bin Suhban al-Aslami. Because of this corruption al-Dhahabi said in his "Talkhis": "I do not know Amr; I laboured over him." He is named explicitly in Abu Nu'aym's "Akhbar Asbahan" (2/232) and Ibn Adi's "al-Kamil" (5/13), and has a biography in "Tahdhib al-Kamal" (21/398-399). Al-Uqayli (al-Du'afa' 3/50) said Umar bin Muhammad is not corroborated in this hadith and is known only through it.

Grading: The chain is "very weak" because Umar bin Muhammad bin Suhban is "matruk".
وأخرجه أيضًا ابن حبان (871) من طريق هوذة بن خليفة، عن عمر بن محمد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (871) also narrated it by way of Hawdhah bin Khalifah, from Umar bin Muhammad, with this chain.
وقد وهم ابن حبان ﵀ فقرر أنه عمر بن محمد بن زيد بن عبد الله بن عمر بن الخطاب.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam Ibn Hibban erred in deciding that this narrator is Umar bin Muhammad bin Zayd bin Abd Allah bin Umar bin al-Khattab (who is thiqah), whereas in fact he is Umar bin Muhammad bin Suhban.
