Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1838

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Supplicate to Allah while you are fully certain of its acceptance, and know that Allah Almighty does not accept the supplication of a heedless heart occupied with amusement."
The chain of this hadith is sound; only Salih al-Murri narrated it, and he is one of the ascetics of Basrah, and the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This chain is "very weak" because Salih al-Murri (Ibn Bashir al-Basri) is "matruk", as al-Dhahabi said in "Talkhis al-Mustadrak".
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (3785) narrated it from Abd Allah bin Mu'awiyah al-Jumahi, from Salih al-Murri, with this chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has a supporting report in the hadith of Abd Allah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) (Musnad Ahmad 11/6655), but it contains Ibn Lahi'ah, whose memory was poor.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Another is from Abd Allah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Tabarani (14100), but it contains Bashir bin Maymun al-Wasiti, who is "matruk" and indeed accused of fabricating hadith, as al-Bukhari said.
