It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Supplication benefits against what has already come down (of afflictions) and what has not yet come down, so, O servants of Allah, hold fast to supplication."
Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The chain is "weak" because of the weakness of Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr bin Abi Mulaykah. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (3548) narrated it from al-Hasan bin Arafah, from Yazid bin Harun, with this chain, and called it "gharib", known only through Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr al-Qurashi al-Mulayki, who is weak in hadith and whom some hadith scholars criticised for his memory. Criticism of a narrator: Imam Ahmad and al-Uqayli called him "munkar al-hadith"; Ibn Adi said he is not corroborated in his hadith; al-Nasa'i said he is not thiqah and once called him "matruk"; al-Dhahabi called him "wahin" (very weak); al-Saji was milder, saying he is saduq with a tolerable weakness; and Abu Hatim said he is not strong in hadith. Important point: The earlier hadith of A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) (1834) makes this one unnecessary.
