It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that in the year of the Farewell Hajj the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the people, saying: "Whoever would like to perform Umrah before Hajj and come out (of ihram), let him do so."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is of the level of "hasan". Although Marjanah, the mother of 'Alqamah, is not well known, she is a Successor (tabi'iyyah), Ibn Hibban and al-'Ijli declared her trustworthy (thiqah), and there are other supporting reports for its meaning. Technical note: al-Rabi' bin Sulayman al-Muradi is the student of al-Shafi'i, and Ibn Abi al-Zinad is 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Abdullah. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (41/24615) through al-Darawardi, and at the end it has the addition: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered ihram for Hajj alone and did not perform 'Umrah". The defect ('illah) of this addition can be seen in the notes on Musnad Ahmad. (3942). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Without the mentioned addition, this narration is reported with a "sahih chain" through Hisham bin 'Urwah from his father from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever of you wishes to enter ihram for Hajj may do so, and whoever wishes to do so for 'Umrah may do so". (al-Bukhari 317, Muslim 1211).
