It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shaved his blessed head during the Farewell Hajj. Ibn Umar said: The people used to shave their heads during Hajj and then perform Umrah at the time of departure, and they would ask: "With what should this be shaved?" So we would say: "Have the razor passed over your head."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it!

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note: Yahya bin Yahya is al-Naysaburi, and Ibn Jurayj is 'Abd al-Malik bin 'Abd al-'Aziz. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (9/5614) and al-Bukhari (4411) through Muhammad bin Bakr from Ibn Jurayj, but without the words "people used to shave their heads in Hajj…". Technical note: That statement is Ibn Jurayj's own, and 'Isa bin Yunus is alone in reporting it. Reference / Source: It was narrated in similar form (without the addition mentioned) by al-Bukhari (4410) from Abu Damrah, and by Muslim (1304) and Abu Dawud (1980) through Ya'qub bin 'Abd al-Rahman and Hatim bin Isma'il; all three from Musa bin 'Uqbah. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (8/4890), al-Bukhari (1726, 1729), al-Tirmidhi (913) and al-Nasa'i (4099) through various routes from Nafi', with this same chain. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (4889, 5623) and al-Nasa'i with the chain Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar from his father.
