Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1609

فحدَّثَني محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا محمد بن إسماعيل بن مِهْران، حدثنا عبد الملك بن شعيب بن الليث، حدثنا ابن وَهْب، قال: سمعتُ الليث يحدِّث عن ابن شهابٍ: أنه كان إذا ذُكِر له أنه نُهِيَ (2) عن صيام يوم السبت، قال:
هذا حديثٌ حمصي (3). وله مُعارِضٌ بإسنادٍ صحيح:
It is narrated from Imam Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) that when the prohibition of fasting on Saturday was mentioned before him, he said: "This is a narration of the people of Hims (that is, its authenticity has been questioned)." And in contrast to it there is another narration with an authentic chain:

(2) لفظة "نهي" وقع مكانها بياض في (ز) و (ص)، وأثبتناها من (ع) و"إتحاف المهرة" 16/ (996)، وسقطت من (ب).
Important point: In place of the word "nuhiya" (was forbidden) there was a blank (empty space) in manuscripts (Z) and (S); we established it from manuscript ('A) and Ithaf al-Maharah 16/ (996), while it is missing from manuscript (B).

(3) هذا الأثر أخرجه أبو داود (2423) عن عبد الملك بن شعيب، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2423) narrated this report through the route of 'Abd al-Malik bin Shu'ayb, with this same chain.
