It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever vomits involuntarily (while fasting) does not have to make up (that fast), and whoever deliberately makes himself vomit must make it up."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Criticism of a narrator: Abu Bakr bin Ishaq's name is Ahmad, Abu al-Muthanna is Mu'adh bin al-Muthanna, and Abu al-Walid al-Faqih is Hassan bin Muhammad. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2380) narrated it through Musaddad, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (720) narrated it from 'Ali bin Hujr. Reference / Source: Ahmad (16/ 10463), Ibn Majah (7616), al-Nasa'i (3117) and Ibn Hibban (3518) narrated it via various routes from 'Isa bin Yunus. Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan gharib" and said that we know it only via the route of 'Isa bin Yunus, while according to Imam al-Bukhari it is not "preserved (mahfuz)". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Tirmidhi's statement that 'Isa is alone in narrating it does not seem correct, because the narration of Hafs bin Ghiyath has already passed before it; so the claim of solitary narration (tafarrud) falls away. General principle: According to Imam al-Tirmidhi, the practice of the people of knowledge is based on this: if vomiting comes on its own (overpowering him), there is no make-up fast, but if one vomits deliberately, a make-up fast is required. This is the view of Imam al-Shafi'i, Sufyan al-Thawri, Ahmad, Ishaq and Imam Abu Hanifah.
