Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1570

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever deliberately makes himself vomit, his fast is broken; and whoever vomits involuntarily, his fast is not broken."
Isa bin Yunus corroborated this from Hisham.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and the chain is hasan on account of Yahya bin Sulayman al-Ju'fi, and he is corroborated.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (1676) narrated it via the chain of Abu al-Sha'tha' (who is thiqah) from Hafs bin Ghiyath. This narration will also come next via the route of 'Isa bin Yunus from Hisham bin Hassan.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (3118) narrated with a sahih chain from 'Ata' bin Abi Rabah, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Whoever vomits while fasting should break his fast."
Grading: This narration is mawquf (the statement of a Companion), and its being mawquf does not harm the marfu' narration.
Important point: "Dhara'ahu al-qay'": it means that the vomit overcame him and came out by itself without his intention.
