It is narrated from Shufayy (may Allah have mercy on him) that he entered Madinah and saw a man around whom people had gathered. He asked: Who is this? The people told him: This is Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). Shufayy said: I went near him and sat in front of him while he was narrating hadith to the people. When he fell silent and was alone, I said to him: "I adjure you by Allah and by His right: narrate to me a hadith which you heard yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and understood and knew well." Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will certainly do so. I will narrate to you a hadith which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to me, and which I understood and knew well." Then something like a fainting fit came over Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he remained in that state for a while. Then, when he recovered, he said: "I will certainly narrate to you the hadith which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to me when he (peace and blessings be upon him) and I were in a house and there was no third person there besides us." Then the same state came over Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) again. When he came to, he wiped his face and said: "I will certainly narrate to you the hadith which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to me when we were alone in that house." Then he fainted a third time and began to fall on his face, and I supported him for a long time. Then, when he recovered, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to me: "Indeed, when it is the Day of Resurrection, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will descend to the servants to judge between them, and at that time every nation will be on its knees. Among the first to be called will be a man who gathered the Qur'an (a reciter), one who was killed in the way of Allah (a martyr), and one who had a great deal of wealth. Allah Almighty will say to the reciter: 'Did I not give you the knowledge of what I revealed to My Messenger?' He will say: 'Certainly, O my Lord!' Allah will say: 'What did you do with your knowledge?' He will say: 'I used to recite it night and day.' Allah Almighty will say: 'You have lied,' and the angels will also say: 'You have lied.' Allah Almighty will say: 'Rather, your intention was that it be said: So-and-so is a great reciter, and that has been said.' Then the wealthy man will be brought, and Allah will say: 'Did I not give you such abundance that I left you in need of no one?' He will say: 'Certainly.' Allah will say: 'What did you do with the wealth I gave you?' He will say: 'I used to maintain ties of kinship and give charity.' Allah will say: 'You have lied,' and the angels will say: 'You have lied.' Allah will say: 'Rather, you wanted it to be said: So-and-so is very generous, and that has been said.' Then the one who was killed in the way of Allah will be brought, and he will be asked: 'Why were you killed?' He will say: 'I was commanded to wage jihad in Your way, so I fought until I was killed.' Allah will say: 'You have lied,' and the angels will say: 'You have lied.' Allah will say: 'Rather, your intention was that it be said: So-and-so is very brave, and that has been said.'" Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) struck my knee with his hand and said: "O Abu Hurayrah! These three will be the first of Allah's creation with whom the Fire of Hell will be kindled on the Day of Resurrection."
The chain of this hadith is sahih, but the two Shaykhs did not record it with these words. Al-Walid bin Abi al-Walid al-Udhri is a shaykh of the people of Syria whom the two Shaykhs did not use as evidence; however, they agreed on other supporting reports for this hadith with a wording different from this one.

Grading: Its chain is sahih. Criticism of a narrator: Al-Walid bin Abi al-Walid was declared trustworthy by Abu Zur'ah al-Razi, Ibn Ma'in, al-'Ijli and Ya'qub bin Sufyan, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat". Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar erred in "al-Taqrib" when he called him weak (layyanahu), while all the remaining narrators are thiqah. Shufayy refers to Ibn Mati' al-Asbahi. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (2382) and Ibn Hibban (408) narrated it via two routes from 'Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak, with this same chain. (369). Note / Clarification: See the earlier hadith number (369). Important point: "Bi-haqqi wa-haqqi" (appealing by the right of such-and-such and the right of such-and-such): something is understood to be omitted here, that is, he asked appealing by such-and-such rights.
