It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: I asked My servant for a loan, but he did not lend to Me; and My servant reviled Me while he did not know it. He says: Alas, O Time! Alas, O Time! Yet I am Time."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih and this chain is hasan. Criticism of a narrator: Although Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated it with 'an'anah ("from"), he is corroborated, and he is hasan in hadith. Al-'Ala' bin 'Abd al-Rahman refers to Ibn Ya'qub al-Juhani (mawla of al-Huraqah). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (16/ 10578) narrated it from Yazid bin Harun, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (13/ 7988) narrated it via the chain of Muhammad bin Yazid al-Wasiti, from Muhammad bin Ishaq. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Ibn Ishaq was corroborated in narrating from al-'Ala' with this wording by Ibrahim bin Tahman (Mashyakhah 105) and Muhammad bin Ja'far bin Abi Kathir (al-Tabari 2/ 13), and both of them are thiqah. (3858). Note / Clarification: This hadith will come later via the route of Muhammad bin Maslamah from Yazid bin Harun at number (3858). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar narration will come later via the route of Sa'id bin al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayrah (number 3732) and al-A'raj from Abu Hurayrah (number 3733). Important point: His (peace and blessings be upon him) words "istaqradtu 'abdi" (I asked My servant for a loan): it means that one of My needy servants asked for a loan (as if Allah attributed it to Himself).
