Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 154

It is narrated from Talhah bin Ubaydullah bin Kariz that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah is Generous; He loves generosity and lofty matters, and He detests petty things - or he said: He dislikes them."
This narration does not weaken the hadith of Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd, as I have already mentioned that an addition from trustworthy narrators is accepted. And Allah knows best.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the name has been distorted to "Abd Allah", whereas all the biographical works unanimously give the correct name as "Ubayd Allah" (in the diminutive form).

Grading: This hadith is hasan.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is "mursal", because Talhah bin Kariz is a trustworthy Tabi'i (Successor), and all the narrators below him are also thiqah.
Note / Clarification: Abu al-Muwajjih is "Muhammad bin Amr al-Fazari", Abdan is "Abd Allah bin Uthman al-Marwazi" (Abdan being his nickname and Abd Allah his name), and Abd Allah is "Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak".
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari narrated a part of it in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (4/347) through the chain of Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak, by this same route.
