It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Bujayd (may Allah be pleased with her), who had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that she said: "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, a poor man comes and stands at my door, and I have nothing to give him." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Even if all you find to give him is a burnt goat's hoof, place that in his hand."
The chain of this hadith is sahih, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is strong (qawi). Criticism of a narrator: There is disagreement about whether 'Abd al-Rahman bin Bujayd was a Companion; al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned in "al-Taqrib" that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (ru'yah). A group narrated from him and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat". Imam al-Tirmidhi declared this hadith of his sahih. The name of Umm Bujayd is said to be "Hawwa'". Reference / Source: Ahmad (45/ 27149), Abu Dawud (1667), al-Tirmidhi (665), al-Nasa'i (2366) and Ibn Hibban (3337) narrated it via various routes from al-Layth bin Sa'd, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (27148 and 27151) narrated it via two routes from Sa'id al-Maqburi. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad, al-Nasa'i (2357) and Ibn Hibban (3374) narrated via the route of Zayd bin Aslam, and Ahmad (27/ 16648 and others) via the route of Mansur bin Hayyan (both via Ibn Bujayd from his grandmother), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not turn the beggar away empty-handed, even if it is only a burnt hoof you give." Important point: "Al-zilf": according to al-Qamus, it is the hoof of a cow, a sheep or similar animals, which corresponds to our foot. Note / Clarification: His (peace and blessings be upon him) words "a burnt hoof": this is meant as exaggeration (that is, give even the smallest thing), since otherwise a burnt hoof is of no use as a rule.
