أخبرنا أبو العباس محمد بن أحمد المحبُوبي، حدثنا الفضل بن عبد الجبار، حدثنا النَّضْر بن شُمَيل، عن [أبي] (2) قُرَّة قال: سمعتُ سعيد بن المسيّب يحدِّث عن عمر بن الخطّاب قال: ذُكِر لي أنَّ الأعمال تَباهَى، فتقول الصَّدقةُ: أنا أفضَلُكم (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I have been told that (on the Day of Resurrection) deeds will boast before one another, and charity will say: I am the most excellent of you all."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.

(2) لفظة "أبي" سقطت من النسخ الخطية، وأثبتناها من "إتحاف المهرة" لابن حجر، و"شعب الإيمان" للبيهقي، وسائر مصادر التخريج، وهو أبو قرة الأسدي كما جاء مصرَّحًا به في بعض مصادر التخريج.
Note / Clarification: The word "Abi" had dropped out of the manuscripts; we have established it from "Ithaf al-Maharah", "Shu'ab al-Iman" and other sources, and in some places it is stated explicitly that he is Abu Qurrah al-Asadi.
(3) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة أبي قرة الأسدي الصيداوي، فقد تفرَّد بالرواية عنه النضر بن شميل، وقال ابن خزيمة: فإني لا أعرف أبا قرة بعدالة ولا جرح.
Grading: This chain is weak (da'if) because Abu Qurrah al-Asadi al-Saydawi is unknown (majhul); only al-Nadr bin Shumayl narrated from him, and according to Ibn Khuzaymah nothing is known about his integrity or any criticism of him.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (3058) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (3058) via al-Hakim, with this same chain.
وأخرجه إسحاق بن راهويه في "مسنده" كما في "المطالب العالية" (952)، وابن خزيمة (2433)، وأبو علي الصواف في "فوائده" (35) من طريق النضر بن شميل، به. وتحرَّف في مطبوع ابن خزيمة النضر بن شميل إلى: النضر بن إسماعيل، وتحرف فيه كذلك أبو قرة إلى: أبي فروة.
Reference / Source: Ishaq bin Rahawayh, Ibn Khuzaymah (2433) and Abu 'Ali al-Sawwaf narrated it via al-Nadr bin Shumayl. In the printed edition of Ibn Khuzaymah some of the names were distorted.
