أخبرنا الحسن بن حَليم المروَزي، أخبرنا أبو المُوجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدان، أخبرنا عبد الله، حدثنا حَرْمَلَة بن عمران، أنه سَمِع يزيد بن أبي حَبِيب يحدِّث، أنَّ أبا الخير حدَّثه، أنه سمع عقبةَ بن عامر يقول: سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "كلُّ امرئٍ في ظلِّ صدقته حتى يُفصَلَ بين الناس" أو قال: "حتى يُحكَمَ بين الناس". قال يزيد: وكان أبو الخير لا يُخطِئُه يومٌ لا يتصدقُ فيه بشيءٍ ولو كعكةً ولو بَصَلةً (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Every person will be in the shade of his charity (on the Day of Resurrection) until judgement is passed between the people." Yazid bin Abi Habib said that no day would pass for Abu al-Khayr (a narrator of this hadith) in which he did not give something in charity, even if it was a single cake (a piece of bread) or a single onion.
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح، رجاله ثقات. الحسن بن حليم: هو الحسن بن محمد بن حليم الحليمي، نُسب إلى جده، وأبو الموجه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفزاري، وعبدان: وهو عبد الله بن عثمان بن جبلة، وعبدان لقبه، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك، وأبو الخير: هو مرثد بن عبد الله اليزني.
Grading: Its chain is sahih and all its narrators are thiqah.
Criticism of a narrator: Al-Hasan bin Halim (al-Halimi), Abu al-Muwajjih (Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari), 'Abdan ('Abd Allah bin 'Uthman) and Abu al-Khayr (Marthad bin 'Abd Allah al-Yazani) are all thiqah narrators.
وأخرجه أحمد 28/ (17333)، وابن حبان (3310) من طريقين عن عبد الله بن المبارك، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (28/ 17333) and Ibn Hibban (3310) narrated it via two routes from Ibn al-Mubarak, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 29/ (18043) و 38/ (23490) من طريق محمد بن إسحاق، عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب، عن مرثد، عن بعض أصحاب النبي ﷺ، لم يسمّ الصحابي.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (29/ 18043) narrated it via the chain of Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Yazid bin Abi Habib, from Marthad, from "one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)", whose name is not mentioned.
