أخبرنا مُكرَم بن أحمد القاضي، حدثنا يحيى بن جعفر بن الزِّبْرِقان، حدثنا أبو عامر العَقَديُّ وأبو داودَ الطيالسي، قالا: حدثنا شعبة. وحدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا إبراهيم بن مرزوق، حدثنا بِشْر بن عمر ووَهْبُ بن جرير، قالا: حدثنا شعبةُ، عن عمرو بن مُرَّة، عن عبد الله بن الحارث، عن أبي كثير، عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال: خَطَبَ رسولُ الله ﷺ فقال: "إياكم والشُّحَّ، فإنما هَلَكَ من كان قَبْلكُم بالشُّحِّ، أمَرَهم بالبُخل فبَخِلوا، وأمَرَهم بالقَطِيعة فقَطَعوا، وأمَرَهم بالفُجور ففَجَروا" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه، وأبو كثير الزُّبيدي من كبار التابعين.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon and said: "Guard yourselves against greed and avarice, for the nations before you were destroyed by this very greed. It commanded them to be miserly, so they became misers; it commanded them to sever ties of kinship, so they cut off their relations; and it commanded them to sin, so they fell into sins."
The chain of this hadith is sahih, but the two Shaykhs did not record it; and Abu Kathir al-Zubaydi is one of the senior Tabi'un.
