Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and there is no objection to its narrators,
Technical note / Defect ('illah): except that Muhammad bin Ishaq is a mudallis and narrated it with 'an'anah ("from"); moreover, he was contradicted in this chain. 'Amr bin al-Harith, Yazid bin Abi Habib, Ibn Lahi'ah and others narrated it via the chain of Bukayr bin 'Abd Allah, from Kurayb, from Maymunah (naming Kurayb in place of Sulayman bin Yasar), and both of them are thiqah.
Criticism of a narrator: Abu Mu'awiyah is Muhammad bin Khazim (al-Darir), and 'Abdah is Ibn Sulayman al-Kilabi.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (1690) and al-Nasa'i (4911) narrated it from Hannad bin al-Sari, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: This narration will come later at number (2883) via the route of Ya'la bin 'Ubayd from Ibn Ishaq; see its takhrij there.
Reference / Source: Ahmad, al-Bukhari (2592), Muslim (999), al-Nasa'i (4910) and Ibn Hibban (3343) narrated it via the chain of Bukayr bin 'Abd Allah, from Kurayb, from Maymunah.
Variation in the chain: Al-Nasa'i (4913) narrated it via the chain of Muhammad bin Khazim, from Ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubayd Allah bin 'Abd Allah, from Maymunah, but Imam al-Nasa'i said: "This hadith is an error; we do not know it among the hadiths of al-Zuhri."
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (4912) narrated via the chain of Sharik bin 'Abd Allah bin Abi Namir, from 'Ata' bin Yasar, from Maymunah al-Hilaliyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), that she had a black slave-girl, and she said: "O Messenger of Allah, I want to free this one." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why not ransom with her your brother's daughter or your sister's daughter from herding sheep?"
