حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا أبو زُرْعة عبد الرحمن بن عمرو الدِّمشقي، حدثنا أحمد بن خالد الوَهْبي، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق، عن عاصم بن عمر بن قتادة، عن محمود (1) بن لَبِيد، عن رافع بن خَدِيجٍ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "العاملُ على الصَّدَقة بالحقِّ كالغازي في سبيل الله حتى يَرجِعَ إلى بيتِه" (2).

Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who collects zakah (the 'amil) rightfully is like one who fights (a ghazi) in the path of Allah until he returns to his home."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: محمد.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has become "Muhammad" through corruption.
(2) إسناده حسن من أجل محمد بن إسحاق - وهو ابن يسار - وقد صرَّح بالتحديث عند أحمد في "المسند" فانتفت شبهة تدليسه.
Grading: Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq (bin Yasar). He has explicitly stated that he heard it directly in "Musnad Ahmad", which removes the suspicion of his tadlis.
وأخرجه الترمذي (645) عن محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري، عن أحمد بن خالد الوهبي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi (645) narrated it through Imam al-Bukhari, from Ahmad bin Khalid al-Wahbi, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 28/ (17285)، وأبو داود (645)، وابن ماجه (1809) من طرق عن محمد بن إسحاق، به.

وأخرجه الترمذي (645) من طريق يزيد بن عياض، عن عاصم بن عمر بن قتادة، به. قال الترمذي: حديث رافع بن خديج حديث حسن، ويزيد بن عياض ضعيف عند أهل الحديث، وحديث محمد بن إسحاق أصح. قلنا: العمدة فيه على ابن إسحاق، أما يزيد بن عياض فهو متهم. ¤ ¤ وأخرجه أحمد 25/ (15826) عن يعلى بن عبيد، عن محمد بن إسحاق، عن رافع بن خديج. وهو مُعضَل.
Grading: Al-Tirmidhi (645) narrated it through Yazid bin Iyad and said: The hadith of Rafi' bin Khadij is "hasan", but Yazid bin Iyad is weak according to the hadith scholars, and the narration of Muhammad bin Ishaq is more authentic.
Criticism of a narrator: Yazid bin Iyad is a narrator who is accused (of lying). In one chain of Ahmad (25/ 15826) this narration is mu'dal.
