It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your being people who curse a great deal and your being siddiqun cannot be combined together."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the printed edition the name was printed as "Ali bin Abdullah bin Raja'"; the extra words "Ali bin" are a mistake.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): The word "tajtami'u" is not present in the manuscripts, whereas the printed editions have retained it, and this is the familiar form (al-jaddah).

Grading: This hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Because of Abdullah bin Raja' al-Ghudani this chain is strong (qawi); however, Ubaydullah bin Musa contradicted him by narrating it (Masawi' al-Akhlaq: 19) via Isra'il bin Yunus as "mawquf" on Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), but in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah what is preserved is "raf'" (its being the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him).
Note / Clarification: Hisham bin Ali al-Sadusi is mostly attributed to his tribe, but sometimes he is also attributed to his city "Siraf" (a coastal city in Iran's Bushehr province).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hisham was declared trustworthy by Imam al-Daraqutni, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" (9/234); his biography is also in "Tarikh al-Islam" (6/843).
