حدَّثَناه علي بن حَمْشاذَ العدل، حدثنا الحارث بن أبي أسامة، أنَّ رَوْح بن عُبادةَ حدثهم، أخبرنا ابن جُريج، أخبرني جعفر بن خالد، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن جعفرٍ، قال: مَسَح رسولُ الله ﷺ بيدِه على رأسي - قال: أظنُّه قال: ثلاثًا - كلما مَسَحَ قال: "اللهمَّ اخلُفْ جعفرًا في ولدِه" (2). قد أتى جعفر بنُ خالد بسُنَّتين عزيزتين، إحداهما: مَسْحُ رأس اليتيم، والأخرى: تفقُّد أهل المُصيبة بما يَتقوَّتون ليلتَهم، وفَّقنا الله لاستعمالِه عنه.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over my head - the narrator said: I think he said three times - and whenever he passed his hand he would say: 'Allahumma ukhluf Ja'faran fi waladih' (O Allah, be Ja'far's successor among his children).
Ja'far bin Khalid has narrated two rare Sunnahs: one is passing the hand over the head of an orphan, and the other is looking after a grieving family so that they have food for the night. May Allah grant us the ability to act upon them.

وأخرجه أحمد 3/ (1760) عن روح بن عبادة، بهذا الإسناد. بلفظ الحديث السابق.
