Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1368

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the martyrs of Uhud were not washed; they were buried with their blood, and the funeral prayer was not offered over them.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. Bukhari alone recorded, through al-Zuhri, the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray over them, but it does not contain these comprehensive words which Usamah bin Zayd al-Laythi alone narrated from al-Zuhri. And the two of them (Bukhari and Muslim) agreed on the hadith of al-Layth bin Sa'd from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over the martyrs of Uhud as the prayer is offered over the deceased.
