إِذَا اسْتَهَلَّ الصَّبِيُّ وُرِثَ وَصُلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ
If an infant cries out at birth, he inherits and the funeral prayer is offered for him

حدثنا أحمد بن إسحاق بن أيوب الفقيه، حدثنا بِشْر بن موسى، حدثنا الحُمَيدي، حدثنا سفيان، حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، عن محمد بن يحيى بن حَبّان، عن أبي عَمْرةَ، عن زيد بن خالد الجُهَنيِّ قال: كنّا مع النبي ﷺ بخَيبَر، فمات رجلٌ منّا من أشجَعَ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "صَلُّوا عليه"، فذهبنا ننظُرُ، فوجدنا خَرَزًا من خَرَزِ يهودَ، ما يُساوي دِرهَمَين (1). رواه الناس عن يحيى بن سعيد. أبو عَمْرةَ هذا: رجلٌ من جُهَينةَ معروفٌ بالصِّدق، ولم يُخرجاه.
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at (the battle of) Khaybar, when a man from among us, of the tribe of Ashja', died. the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Offer the funeral prayer over this companion of yours (I will not pray over him)." When we searched (his belongings) to find the reason, we found in his belongings some beads from the beads of the Jews (from the spoils of war) that were not worth even two dirhams.
People have narrated this hadith from Yahya bin Sa'id, and this Abu Amrah al-Juhani is a man well known for truthfulness, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن، أبو عمرة ذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات"، وصحَّح حديثه ابن الجارود وابن حبان، وأبو نعيم في "الحلية" 8/ 262، والجورقاني في "الأباطيل والصحاح"، وقال ابن عساكر في "معجمه": حديث حسن. الحميدي: اسمه عبد الله بن الزبير، وسفيان: هو ابن عيينة، ويحيى بن سعيد: هو الأنصاري.
Grading: (1) Its chain is hasan. Abu 'Amrah is trustworthy, and Ibn al-Jarud and Ibn Hibban declared it sahih. Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah and Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari are among its narrators.
وأخرجه أحمد 28/ (17031)، وابن ماجه (2848) من طرق، عن يحيى بن سعيد الأنصاري، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (28/17031) and Ibn Majah (2848) narrated it through various routes from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari.
