Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note: (1) This is how it appears here in the manuscripts of al-Mustadrak, and it is an error; the correct form is Bakr bin Yunus bin Bukayr, as in al-Bayhaqi's "Sunan" (9/347), where he narrated it from the author (al-Hakim), and it appears correctly in all the takhrij sources; indeed, Bakr bin Yunus is alone in narrating it, as will come. If what appears here is from the original of al-Mustadrak, then the author erred in it, and what perhaps strengthens this possibility is that he authenticated it here on the condition of Muslim on the basis that it is Yunus bin Bukayr, whereas the two Shaykhs narrated nothing from Bakr bin Yunus bin Bukayr, and he is weak. It appears correctly as Bakr bin Yunus bin Bukayr in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (13875), and Allah knows best.
Grading: (2) It is "hasan li-ghayrihi", in sha' Allah, and this chain is weak because of the weakness of Bakr bin Yunus. Al-Bayhaqi said: Bakr bin Yunus bin Bukayr is alone in narrating it from Musa bin 'Ulayy, and he is munkar al-hadith, attributing this to al-Bukhari. Abu Zur'ah said: his hadith is very weak (wahi). Ibn 'Adi said: most of what he narrates is not corroborated. Abu Hatim said, as in "al-'Ilal" by his son (5/620) (2216): this hadith is false (batil), and this Bakr is munkar al-hadith.
Grading: Nevertheless, al-Tirmidhi declared it hasan, and al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar likewise declared it hasan on account of its supporting reports in "Nata'ij al-Afkar" (4/238).
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (2040) narrated it from Abu Kurayb Muhammad bin al-'Ala' al-Hamdani with this same chain, and said: a hasan gharib hadith; we know it only from this route.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (3444) narrated it from Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin Numayr from Bakr bin Yunus.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported by the hadith of 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf coming with the author (al-Hakim) at number (8464), in whose chain there is weakness.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And by the hadith of Jabir bin 'Abd Allah in Abu Nu'aym's "al-Hilyah" (10/50-51 and 221), in which there is Sharik bin 'Abd Allah al-Qadi, whose hadith is hasan in corroborating chains and supporting reports.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And by the hadith of 'Abd Allah bin 'Umar, narrated by al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa'" (1011), Ibn Hibban in "al-Majruhin" (2/292), Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (5/207) and Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-'Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" (1451) and (1452) via routes from Malik from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar. But al-'Uqayli said: it has no basis among the hadiths of Malik, and no trustworthy narrator reported it from him. Ibn 'Adi said: these hadiths are false from Malik. Al-Bayhaqi said something similar in "al-Sunan" (9/347).
