It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever visits a sick person continues wading through mercy (until he arrives) until he sits down, and when he sits down (beside the sick person), he becomes fully immersed in that mercy."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) It is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and this chain has weakness because of its inconsistency (idtirab). 'Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far, though counted among the trustworthy, was described by Ibn Hibban as "perhaps he erred" and by Ibn Hajar as "perhaps he was mistaken". There is disagreement on him in this chain: here he narrated it from 'Umar bin al-Hakam; once from his mother from 'Umar bin al-Hakam; once from his father; and once he explicitly stated hearing it from 'Umar bin al-Hakam, in Ibn 'Abd al-Barr's "al-Tamhid" (24/274), but Ibn 'Abd al-Barr said after it: 'Abd al-Hamid did not hear it from 'Umar bin al-Hakam; he only narrated it from his mother from him. There is also disagreement on 'Umar bin al-Hakam: some narrated it from him from Ka'b bin Malik, and some said Ka'b bin 'Ujrah. We have detailed its takhrij in our notes on "Musnad Ahmad". Reference / Source: Ahmad (22/14260) narrated it from Hushaym bin Bashir, and likewise Ibn Hibban (2956) via the route of Surayj bin Yunus from Hushaym with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (25/15797) narrated it via the route of Abu Ma'shar from 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Abd Allah al-Ansari from 'Umar bin al-Hakam bin Thawban from Ka'b bin Malik. Abu Ma'shar (Najih bin 'Abd al-Rahman) is weak. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a narration from Anas bin Malik, narrated by Ahmad in the "Musnad" (20/12782), where we mentioned the rest of its supporting reports.
