Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 131

حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن علي بن عبد الحميد الصنعاني بمكة، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن عبّاد، حدثنا عبد الرزاق، حدثني بشّر بن رافع، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن أبي سَلَمة، عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "المؤمنُ غرٌّ كريم، والفاجرُ خِبٌّ لئيم" (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The believer is simple-hearted and noble (good-hearted), and the wicked person is cunning and base."

(1) حديث حسن بما قبله، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف بشر بن رافع.
Grading: On the basis of the preceding supporting reports this hadith is "hasan", although this particular chain is weak because of the weakness of Bishr bin Rafi'.
وأخرجه أبو داود (4790)، والترمذي (1964) من طريقين عن عبد الرزاق، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Abu Dawud (4790) and al-Tirmidhi (1964) narrated it through two different routes from Abd al-Razzaq with this same chain.
