It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever commits a sin that carries a hadd (prescribed punishment), and Allah Almighty hastens its penalty for him in this world (in the form of the punishment), then Allah is far too just to repeat the punishment upon His servant in the Hereafter. And whoever commits a sin that carries a hadd, but Allah Almighty conceals it for him (in this world) and pardons him, then Allah is far too generous to go back on something He has already pardoned."
This hadith has a sahih chain, but they (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it, although both of them used the narration of Abu Juhayfah from Ali bin Abi Talib as evidence, and they also agreed on the narration of Abu Ishaq; moreover, both of them used al-Hajjaj bin Muhammad as evidence, while Imam Muslim also used Yunus bin Abi Ishaq as evidence.
