Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Every servant will be raised (on the Day of Resurrection) in the state in which he died."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but Bukhari did not record it in his Sahih.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) It is a "sahih hadith" and the chain is qawi because of Abu Sufyan (Talhah bin Nafi'). Jarir bin 'Abd al-Hamid and al-A'mash are among its narrators.
Reference / Source: Muslim (2878) narrated it through the chains of Qutaybah and 'Uthman via Jarir.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (7313) narrated it through Wahb bin Munabbih with the addition: "The believer (will be raised) upon his faith, and the hypocrite upon his hypocrisy."
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (4230) narrated it through Sharik al-Nakha'i with the words: "People will be raised according to their intentions."
Repetition: It will come later through al-A'mash at nos. (3729, 3855, 8070).
Grading: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated it from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir as marfu', while Ibn Jurayj kept it mawquf on Jabir. Since it concerns the unseen, even the mawquf version carries the ruling of marfu'.
