حدثنا يحيى بن منصور القاضي، حدثنا محمد بن محمد بن رجاء، حدثنا موسى بن عبد الرحمن، حدثنا حسين بن علي عن زائدة، عن هشام بن حسّان، عن محمد بن سِيرين، عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لا تخُصُّوا يومَ الجمعة بصيام من بين الأيام، ولا تخُصُّوا ليلةَ الجمعة بقيامٍ من بين الليالي" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه!

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not single out the day of Friday among the days for fasting, nor single out the night of Friday among the nights for standing in prayer."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it!

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(1) إسناده صحيح. موسى بن عبد الرحمن: هو ابن سعيد المسروقي، وحسين بن علي: هو الجعفي، وزائدة: هو ابن قدامة.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Musa bin 'Abd al-Rahman refers to al-Masruqi and Husayn bin 'Ali refers to al-Ju'fi.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (3612) و (3613) عن محمد بن إسحاق بن خزيمة، عن موسى بن عبد الرحمن المسروقي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (3612, 3613) narrated it through the chain of Imam Ibn Khuzaymah.
وأخرجه مسلم (1144) (148)، والنسائي (2764) و (2768) من طريقين عن حسين بن علي الجعفي، به. وزادا في آخره: "إلّا أن يكون في صوم يصومه أحدكم". فاستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Muslim (1144/148) and al-Nasa'i (2764, 2768) narrated it through the route of al-Husayn bin 'Ali al-Ju'fi, with the addition at its end: "except if it falls within a fast that one of you (regularly) keeps". Al-Hakim's including it as an addition (istidrak) is an oversight on his part here as well.
وأخرج أحمد 15/ (9127) من طريق عوف بن أبي جميلة، عن محمد بن سيرين، عن أبي هريرة قال: نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يفرد يوم الجمعة بصوم.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (15/9127) narrated it through the chain of 'Awf bin Abi Jamilah from Muhammad bin Sirin from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting Friday alone.
وأخرج أحمد 16/ (10424)، والبخاري (1985)، ومسلم (1144) (147)، وأبو داود (2420)، والترمذي (743)، وابن ماجه (1723)، والنسائي (2769)، وابن حبان (3614) من طريق أبي صالح ذكوان السمان، والنسائي (2770) من طريق مجاهد بن جبر، كلاهما عن أبي هريرة قال: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: "لا يصومن أحدكم يوم الجمعة، إلّا يومًا قبله أو بعده".
Reference / Source: Ahmad (16/10424), al-Bukhari (1985), Muslim, Abu Dawud (2420), al-Tirmidhi (743), Ibn Majah and al-Nasa'i narrated it through the chains of Abu Salih Dhakwan al-Samman and Mujahid: "None of you should fast on Friday unless he also fasts a day before it (Thursday) or a day after it (Saturday)".
وأخرج أحمد 15/ (9284) من طريق همام عن قتادة، قال: حدثنا صاحب لنا عن أبي هريرة، عن النبي ﷺ: أنه نهى عن صوم يوم الجمعة إلّا في صوم متتابع.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (15/9284) narrated it through the chain of Hammam from Qatadah, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on Friday unless it falls within a series of consecutive fasts.
وأخرج أحمد 12/ (7388) و 13/ (7839)، والنسائي (2757)، وابن حبان (3609) من طريق عبد الله بن عمرو القاري، وأحمد 14/ (8772) و 15/ (9467)، والنسائي (3610) من طريق رجل من بني الحارث يقال له: أبو الأوبر، وأحمد 15/ (9097)، والنسائي (2763) من طريق محمد بن جعفر المخزومي، ثلاثتهم عن أبي هريرة، قال: ما أنا نهيتُ عن صيام يوم الجمعة، محمدٌ نهى عنه ورب الكعبة. وذكر في رواية المخزومي وأبي الأوبر لذلك قصة. ولم يسم النسائي في روايته المخزومي، وإنما قال: فلان بن جعفر المخزومي.
Reference / Source: Ahmad and al-Nasa'i narrated it through the chains of 'Abdullah bin 'Amr al-Qari, Abu al-Awbar and Muhammad bin Ja'far al-Makhzumi. Abu Hurayrah used to say: "It was not I who forbade it; rather, by the Lord of the Ka'bah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it".
وسيأتي في "المستدرك" (1612) من طريق عامر بن لدين الأشعري عن أبي هريرة: أنَّ النبي ﷺ قال: "يوم الجمعة عيد، فلا تجعلوا يوم عيدكم يوم صيامكم، إلّا أن تصوموا قبله أو بعده".
Repetition: It will come later in al-Mustadrak (1612): "Friday is a day of 'Eid, so do not make your day of 'Eid your day of fasting, unless you fast (a day) before it or after it".
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih.
