أخبرنا أبو الحسن علي بن محمد بن عُقْبة الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدثنا محمد ابن الحسين بن أبي الحسين، حدثنا الفضل بن دُكَين، حدثنا جعفر بن بُرْقانَ، عن ميمون بن مِهْران، عن ابن عمر قال: سُئِلَ النبيُّ ﷺ عن الصلاة في السفينة، فقال: كيف أُصلِّي في السفينة؟ قال: "صَلِّ فيها قائمًا إلّا أن تخافَ الغرقَ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه، وهو شاذٌ بمَرَّة (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about praying in a boat, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray in the boat standing, unless you fear drowning."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain on the condition of Imam Muslim, but they did not record it, and it is a shadh (anomalous) narration.

Grading: (2) Its chain is "hasan".
وأخرجه البيهقي في "السنن" 3/ 155، و"معرفة السنن والآثار" (6165 - 6166) عن أبي ¤ ¤ عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد. وحسَّنه في "السنن"، وتحرف "بن أبي الحسين" في المطبوع منه إلى: بن أبي الحنين، وابن أبي الحسين هذا ذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات" 9/ 136.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi (3/155) narrated it through the chain of al-Hakim and graded it hasan in "al-Sunan". Ibn Abi al-Husayn is a trustworthy narrator (Ibn Hibban 9/136).
وأخرجه الدارقطني (1474) من طريق بشر بن فافا، عن أبي نعيم الفضل بن دكين، به. وبشر هذا ذكره الذهبي في "الضعفاء". وله طرق أخرى عن جعفر بن برقان عند الدارقطني والبيهقي فيها مقال.
Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni (1474) narrated it through the route of Bishr bin Fafa (who is weak). It also has other routes with al-Daraqutni and al-Bayhaqi, but they have been criticised.
(1) أراد بالشذوذ تفرُّد جعفر بن برقان به، إذ لم يروه أحدٌ غيره، وقد تقدم التعليق على مصطلح الشذوذ عند المصنف عند الحديث رقم (52).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) By shudhudh is meant that Ja'far bin Burqan is alone in narrating it; al-Hakim's definition of "shudhudh" has already been given at no. (52).
