It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wiping blood from his face and said, "How can a people prosper who wound their Prophet and break his teeth, while he is calling them towards their Lord?" Upon this, the following verse was revealed: "You have no authority in the matter, whether Allah turns to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that my name was given after my uncle Anas bin Nadr, who could not participate in the Battle of Badr with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he regretted it. He used to say that I could not participate in the first battle with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but if now Allah gives me the opportunity to go in any battle with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then Allah will see what I do. Thus, he participated in the Battle of Uhud with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In the battlefield, he saw Hazrat Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) coming from in front of him. He said to him, "Abu Amr! Where are you going? By Allah! I can smell the fragrance of Paradise from behind Uhud." Saying this, he fought so bravely that he was eventually martyred, and more than eighty marks of spears, swords, and arrows were found on his body. His sister and my paternal aunt, Hazrat Rubai’ bint Nadr, says that I could only recognize my brother by his fingertips. And in this context, this verse was revealed: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some are still waiting." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) believed that this verse was revealed about Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) and other companions like him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a she-camel named "Adhba" which had never been left behind by anyone. Once, a Bedouin came on his camel and surpassed her. This was very hard on the Muslims. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed the expressions on their faces. Then the people themselves said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Adhba has been left behind." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It is Allah's right that whatever He raises in this world, He also lowers it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, a man from among the people of Hell will be brought who had lived in great luxuries in the world. He will be dipped once in Hell, then it will be asked: O son of Adam! Have you ever seen any good? Has any blessing ever passed by you? He will say: By my Lord! I swear, never. After that, a man from among the people of Paradise will be brought who had lived in great hardships in the world. He will be dipped once in Paradise, and then it will be asked: O son of Adam! Have you ever seen any distress? Has any hardship ever passed by you? He will say: By my Lord! I swear, never. No distress has ever come to me and I have never seen any hardship.

Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him) says that someone asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Prophet's blessed hair had turned white. It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out after midday, led the Zuhr prayer, and after saying salam, stood on the pulpit and mentioned the Day of Judgment: and also that before it, great important matters will occur. Then he said, "Whoever wants to ask any question, let him ask. By Allah! Whatever you ask me about, as long as I am standing here, I will surely answer you." Hearing this, people began to weep and wail in abundance, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept repeating, "Ask me." So a man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Where will I enter?" He replied, "In Hell." Abdullah bin Hudhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Who is my father?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Your father is Hudhafah." Upon this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) knelt down and began to say, "We are pleased and content with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as our Prophet." Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became silent. After a little while, he said, "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, just now Paradise and Hell were presented before me in the width of this wall, while I was praying. I have never seen a day of good and evil like today."

Coincidentally, Muhammad bin Muslim, the owner of the Maqsura, told me that one day Hazrat Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, was sitting with me. He said, "Do you know why this wooden post was placed here?" I had not asked him this question. I replied, "By Allah! I do not know why it was placed here." He said, "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to place his right hand on it and turn towards us and say, 'Straighten up and align your rows.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some people from the tribes of Ri'l, Dhakwan, 'Usayyah, and Banu Lihyan came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and claimed that they had accepted Islam and requested the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for support for their people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent seventy Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) with them for assistance. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we used to call them "Qurra" (reciters). These people would cut wood during the day and spend the night in prayer. Those people took all these companions with them, and when they reached near Bi'r Ma'unah, they deceived the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and martyred them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he recited Qunoot Nazilah in the Fajr prayer for a month and supplicated against the tribes of Ri'l, Dhakwan, 'Usayyah, and Banu Lihyan. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the words of these companions (may Allah be pleased with them): "Convey this message from us to our people that we have met our Lord, He is pleased with us and we are pleased with Him," used to be recited in the Noble Qur'an for a period, but later their recitation was abrogated.
