It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever a man met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would ask him, "How are you?" And he would always reply, "Alhamdulillah! I am well." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would respond, "May Allah keep you well." One day, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met him, as usual, he asked him, "How are you?" He replied, "I am well, provided that I am grateful." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. He asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Previously, when you would ask about my condition, you would pray for me, 'May Allah keep you well,' but today you remained silent?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Earlier, when I would ask you, you would say, 'Alhamdulillah! I am well,' so I would respond, 'May Allah keep you well.' But today you said, 'If I am grateful,' so I became doubtful, and thus I remained silent."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the command of veiling (purdah) was revealed, I know the circumstances of that time better than anyone else. That night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in seclusion with Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), and in the morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was a bridegroom. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invited people, they came, ate food, and left, but some people remained sitting there and stayed for quite a while until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself got up and went outside. I also went outside so that they might leave as well, but they kept sitting. This happened repeatedly. Meanwhile, Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) was sitting in a corner. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt shy to say anything to them regarding her. On this occasion, this verse was revealed: "O you who believe! Do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless you are invited for a meal," and do not wait for its preparation. But when you are invited, then enter. Then, at the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the curtain was drawn.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the angel responsible for rain sought permission from Allah Almighty to present himself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah Almighty granted him permission. On this occasion, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), "Take care of the door so that no one comes in to us." After a short while, Hazrat Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) came and wanted to enter the house. Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) stopped him, but he jumped in and began to sit on the back, shoulders, and neck of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The angel asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Do you love him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" The angel said, "Remember! Your ummah will kill him. If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be martyred." Saying this, the angel struck his hand, and there came red soil in his hand. Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) took that soil and tied it in her scarf.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, he stayed in the upper part of Madinah in the neighborhood of Banu Amr bin Awf and remained there for fourteen nights. Then he sent for the chiefs of Banu Najjar. They came with their swords hanging by their sides. That scene is still before my eyes: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on his mount, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) was behind him, and Banu Najjar were around them, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the courtyard of Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a mosque to be built and called the people of Banu Najjar and said to them, "O Banu Najjar! Settle the price of this garden with me." At the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the graves of the polytheists were dug up, the wasteland was leveled, and the tree was cut down. A tree was planted towards the qiblah side of the mosque, and the doors were made of stone. People would hand bricks to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say, "O Allah! The real life is the life of the Hereafter. O Allah! Help the Ansar and the Muhajirin." It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When any one of you comes for prayer, he should walk calmly. So they will go to Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) and say: O Adam! You are the father of mankind, Allah created you with His own hand, made the angels prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things. Therefore, intercede for us with our Lord so that He may deliver us from this place. Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) will reply: I am not worthy of this, and he will remember his mistake and feel shy before his Lord and say: Go to Hazrat Nuh (peace be upon him), for he was the first messenger whom Allah sent to the people of the earth. So they will all go to Hazrat Nuh (peace be upon him) and say to him: Intercede for us with your Lord. He will reply: What you seek is not with me. Go to Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him), for Allah made him His close friend (Khalil). So they will all go to Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and he will also say: What you seek is not with me, but go to Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him), for Allah spoke to him directly and gave him the Torah. But Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) will also excuse himself and say: Go to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he will intercede for you, whose past and future mistakes Allah has forgiven. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I will seek permission to present myself before my Lord, and I will be granted permission. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in prostration. Allah will let me remain in prostration as long as He wills. Then it will be said to me: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Raise your head, whatever you say will be heard, whatever you ask will be granted, and whoever you intercede for, your intercession will be accepted. So I will raise my head and praise Allah with such praises as He will teach me, then I will intercede, and Allah will set a limit for me, and I will admit them into Paradise and return again. This will happen three times. The fourth time I will say: O Lord! Only those remain whom the Qur’an has held back, meaning for whom Hell has become obligatory. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said "Allahu Akbar" and declared, "Khaybar is destroyed, destroyed. He further says that Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was very beautiful, came into the share of Hazrat Dihyah Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought her in exchange for seven persons and, after purchasing her, sent her to Hazrat Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) so that she could adorn and prepare her as a bride. When they neared Madinah Munawwarah, people, according to their custom, began to dismount by jumping off their mounts. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also began to dismount in the same way, but the she-camel slipped and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell to the ground, and Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) also fell. The other noble wives were watching and said, "May Allah double this Jewess and do such and such to her." Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and arranged a curtain for her, then seated her behind him. I asked, "O Abu Hamzah! Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) really fall?" He replied, "Yes! By Allah, he fell."
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was also present at the wedding feast of Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), and at this wedding feast, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fed the people plenty of bread and meat. All the others ate and left, but two men, after eating, sat there and began to talk. Seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself went out of the house. I also came out behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), to pass the time, went to the chambers of his noble wives one by one and greeted them. They would ask, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! How did you find your wife?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would reply, "Very good." Then, when he reached the door of his house, those two were still sitting and talking. When they saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returning, they stood up and left. Now I do not remember whether I informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of their departure or someone else did. In any case, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered his house from there. I also wanted to enter, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hung a curtain and the verse of hijab was revealed.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that among the Jews, when a woman was menstruating, they would neither eat nor drink with her, nor would they stay together in the same house. The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, so Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "They ask you about menstruating women. Say: It is a harm, so keep away from women during menstruation and do not approach them until they are purified." After reciting this verse in full, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You may do everything except intercourse." When the Jews learned of this, they said: "This man opposes us in every matter." Then Hazrat Usayd bin Hudair (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abbad bin Bishr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The Jews are saying such and such things. Should we not even go near our wives? (So that we may completely oppose the Jews.)" Upon hearing this, the color of the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, and we thought that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was displeased with them. Both of them also left from there, but shortly after, a gift of milk was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called both of them and gave it to them to drink. In this way, they understood that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not displeased with them.
