Hadith 13417
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْجُبْنِ ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْهَرَمِ ، وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from laziness, old age, cowardice, miserliness, the trial of Dajjal, and the punishment of the grave.
Hadith 13418
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ الْبَصْرِيُّ الْقَصِيرُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " خَدَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ، فَمَا أَمَرَنِي بِأَمْرٍ فَتَوَانَيْتُ عَنْهُ ، أَوْ ضَيَّعْتُهُ ، فَلَامَنِي ، فَإِنْ لَامَنِي أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا قَالَ : دَعُوهُ ، فَلَوْ قُدِّرَ أَوْ قَالَ : لَوْ قُضِيَ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I served the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for ten years. During this time, if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to do something and I was delayed in it or could not do it, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never reproached me. If any member of the household reproached me, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say, "Leave him; if it had been decreed in destiny, it would surely have happened."
Hadith 13419
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بنُ ثَابِتٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ الْبَصْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : خَدَمْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 13420
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ يَعْنِي الْقَصَّابَ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَفْتَرِشْ أَحَدُكُمْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ كَالْكَلْبِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should spread his hands in prayer like a dog.
Hadith 13421
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِي ، مَرَرْتُ بِرِجَالٍ تُقْرَضُ شِفَاهُهُمْ بِمَقَارِيضَ مِنْ نَارٍ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا جِبْرِيلُ ؟ قَالَ : هَؤُلَاءِ خُطَبَاءُ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ ، يَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَيَنْسَوْنَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ ، وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ ، أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the night of Mi'raj, I passed by some people whose mouths were being cut with scissors of fire. I asked, "Who are these people?" It was said, "These are the preachers of your Ummah who used to enjoin good upon the people but forgot themselves, and they used to recite the Book. Did they not understand?"
Hadith 13422
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْمَاجِشُونُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " زَارَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي دَارِنَا ، فَحَلَبْنَا لَهُ دَاجِنًا لَنَا ، وَشُبْنَا لَبَنَهَا مِنْ مَاءِ الدَّارِ ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ ، وَمِنْ وَرَاءِ الرَّجُلِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ، وَعَنْ يَسَارِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، فَشَرِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى إِذَا نَزَعَ الْقَدَحَ عَنْ فِيهِ ، أَوْ هَمَّ بِنَزْعِهِ ، قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَعْطِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، فَأَعْطَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقَدَحَ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : الْأَيْمَنَ فَالْأَيْمَنَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, I was ten years old, and when he departed from this world, I was twenty years old. My mother used to encourage me to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house. We milked a pet goat and mixed its milk with water drawn from the well of the house, and presented it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). On the right side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was a Bedouin, and on the left side was Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had drunk from it, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) requested that it be given to Abu Bakr, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the vessel of milk to the Bedouin and said, "First to the one on the right, then to the next."
Hadith 13423
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ يَعْنِي السَّلُولِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَاذَانَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَقِيلُ عِنْدَ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَكْثَرِ النَّاسِ عَرَقًا ، فَاتَّخَذَتْ لَهُ نِطَعًا ، فَكَانَ يَقِيلُ عَلَيْهِ ، وَخَطَّتْ بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهِ خَطًّا فَكَانَتْ تُنَشِّفُ الْعَرَقَ ، فَتَأْخُذُهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا هَذَا يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : عَرَقُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَجْعَلُهُ فِي طِيبِي ، فَدَعَا لَهَا بِدُعَاءٍ حَسَنٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) for a midday rest, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sweat a lot. Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had made a leather bed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he would rest on it. Afterwards, she would collect his sweat. Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Umm Sulaym! What are you doing?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah! We will mix your sweat into our perfume." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for her.
Hadith 13424
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَرْسَلَ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ تَنْظُرُ إِلَى جَارِيَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : شُمِّي عَوَارِضَهَا ، وَانْظُرِي إِلَى عُرْقُوبَيْهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) to look at a slave-girl and said: Smell her body’s fragrance and observe the tendon of her heel.
Hadith 13425
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْعِجْلِيُّ الْخَفَّافُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ أَنْبَأَهُمْ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَسِيرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، إِذْ عُرِضَ لِي نَهَرٌ حَافَتَاهُ قِبَابُ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمُجَوَّفِ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا جِبْرِيلُ ، مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : هَذَا الْكَوْثَرُ الَّذِي أَعْطَاكَ رَبُّكَ ، قَالَ : فَضَرَبْتُ بِيَدَيَّ فِيهِ ، فَإِذَا طِينُهُ الْمِسْكُ الْأَذْفَرُ ، وَإِذَا رَضْرَاضُهُ اللُّؤْلُؤُ " ، وقَالَ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ مِنْ كِتَابِهِ : قَرَأْتُ : " قَالَ الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي مَعِي : أَتَدْرِي مَا هَذَا ؟ هَذَا الْكَوْثَرُ الَّذِي أَعْطَاكَ رَبُّكَ ، فَضَرَبَ بِيَدَيْهِ إِلَى أَرْضِهِ ، فَأَخْرَجَ مِنْ طِينِهِ الْمِسْكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I entered Paradise and suddenly saw a river, on both banks of which were tents made of pearls. I put my hand into it and caught something flowing in the water, and it was fragrant musk. I asked Jibreel, "What is this?" He replied, "This is the River Kawthar which Allah has granted to you." And in another narration, my companion angel said, "Do you know what this is? This is Kawthar which your Lord has granted to you." Then he struck his hand on its ground and showed me musk coming out from its soil.
Hadith 13426
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَوْمِ فِطْرٍ قَطُّ ، حَتَّى يَأْكُلَ تَمَرَاتٍ " ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ أَنَسٌ يَأْكُلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ ثَلَاثًا ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ أَكَلَ خَمْسًا ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ أَكَلَ وِتْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Eid al-Fitr, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not go out towards the Eidgah until he had eaten some dates one by one. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) would also eat three, five, or, if more, an odd number of dates before going out.
Hadith 13427
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " أَتَى أَبُو طَلْحَةَ بِمُدَّيْنِ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ ، فَصُنِعَ طَعَامًا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي : يَا أَنَسُ ، انْطَلِقْ ، ائْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَادْعُهُ ، وَقَدْ تَعْلَمُ مَا عِنْدَنَا ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ عِنْدَهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ يَدْعُوكَ إِلَى طَعَامِهِ ، فَقَامَ ، وَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ : قُومُوا ، فَقَامُوا ، فَجِئْتُ أَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ ، قَالَ : فَضَحْتَنَا ، قُلْتُ إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْرَهُ ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْبَابِ ، قَالَ لَهُمْ : اقْعُدُوا ، وَدَخَلَ عَاشِرَ عَشَرَةٍ ، فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ أُتِيَ بِالطَّعَامِ ، تَنَاوَلَ فَأَكَلَ ، وَأَكَلَ مَعَهُ الْقَوْمُ حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ : قُومُوا وَلْيَدْخُلْ عَشَرَةٌ مَكَانَكُمْ ، حَتَّى دَخَلَ الْقَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ وَأَكَلُوا . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : كَمْ كَانُوا ؟ قَالَ : كَانُوا نَيِّفًا وَثَمَانِينَ ، قَالَ : وَأَفْضَلَ لِأَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ مَا أَشْبَعَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) brought two measures of barley and asked for food to be prepared, then said to me, "Anas! Go and invite the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and you know what we have." I reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he was sitting among the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). I said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) has sent me to invite you for food. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Me and my companions as well?" Saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out with his companions. I quickly reached home and said to Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has brought his companions as well. Hearing this, Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "You have put us to shame." I said, "I could not refuse the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached their house, he said, "Sit down." Then ten people entered and ate to their fill, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with them. Then, in groups of ten, all the people ate that food and everyone ate to their fill. The narrator says that I asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) how many people were there? He replied that they were a little over eighty, and enough was left for the household that they too could eat to their fill.
Hadith 13428
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " أَقَامَ بِلَالٌ الصَّلَاةَ ، فَعَرَضَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ ، قَالَ : فَأَقَامَهُ حَتَّى نَعَسَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the time for prayer arrived, Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the Iqamah, and during this, a man came before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up for prayer, some people had already fallen asleep. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and led the people in prayer.
Hadith 13429
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " سَافَرَ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ عَلَى يَدِهِ ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَهَا ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَتْ قَائِمَةً شَرِبَ وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once during the month of Ramadan, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey. A vessel was brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he placed it on his hand so that people could see, and then he drank from it.
Hadith 13430
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " ثَارَتْ أَرْنَبٌ فَتَبِعَهَا النَّاسُ ، فَكُنْتُ فِي أَوَّلِ مَنْ سَبَقَ إِلَيْهَا ، فَأَخَذْتُهَا ، فَأَتَيْتُ بِهَا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ ، قَالَ : فَأَمَرَ بِهَا ، فَذُبِحَتْ ثُمَّ شُوِّيَتْ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَخَذَ عَجُزَهَا ، فَقَالَ : ائْتِ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : إِنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْكَ بِعَجُزِ هَذِهِ الْأَرْنَبِ ، قَالَ : فَقَبِلَهُ مِنِّي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a rabbit suddenly appeared before us at a certain place. The children ran towards it, but they could not catch it until they became tired. I caught it and brought it to Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him). He slaughtered it and sent one of its sides to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by my hand, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it.
Hadith 13431
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ السَّدُوسِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَنَتَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ يَدْعُو " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Qunoot Nazilah after bowing in the Fajr prayer for a month and continued to invoke curses upon the tribes of Ri'l, Dhakwan, 'Usayyah, and Banu Lihyan.
Hadith 13432
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَصْرٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَنَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِبَقْلَةٍ كُنْتُ أَجْتَنِيهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a kunyah after the name of the vegetable which I used to pick.
Hadith 13433
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوائِيِّ ، وَشُعْبَةَ جميعًا ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْبُزَاقُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ خَطِيئَةٌ ، وَكَفَّارَتُهَا دَفْنُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is to bury it.
Hadith 13434
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَبْيَضِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي بِنَا الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءُ مُحَلِّقَةٌ ، ثُمَّ أَرْجِعُ إِلَى قَوْمِي وَهُمْ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَأَجِدُهُمْ جُلُوسًا ، فَأَقُولُ لَهُمْ : قُومُوا فَصَلُّوا ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ صَلَّى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the Asr prayer when the sun was bright and in the shape of its circle. I would reach my neighborhood and house located in a corner of Madinah Munawwarah and would tell them that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has already performed the prayer, so you should also get up and perform the prayer.
Hadith 13435
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " ذَهَبْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِخُبْزِ شَعِيرٍ ، وَإِهَالَةٍ سَنِخَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I brought barley bread and old oil to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 13436
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِغْفَرٌ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّ ابْنَ خَطَلٍ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَة ، فَقَالَ : اقْتُلُوهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah, he was wearing a helmet. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it off, someone came and informed him that Ibn Khatal was clinging to the curtains of the Ka'bah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Even then, kill him."
Hadith 13437
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنِ الْإِقْعَاءِ وَالتَّوَرُّكِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ " ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : كَانَ أَبِي قَدْ تَرَكَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade sitting squatting in prayer and sitting on the hips with both feet turned to one side. Abdullah says that my father, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), had abandoned this hadith.
Hadith 13438
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَمْ يُبْعَثْ نَبِيٌّ قَبْلِي إِلَّا حَذَّرَ قَوْمَهُ مِنَ الدَّجَّالِ الْكَذَّابِ ، فَاحْذَرُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever a prophet was sent to the world, he surely warned his nation about the one-eyed liar. Remember! The Dajjal will be one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed.
Hadith 13439
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَتِمُّوا الصَّفَّ الْمُقَدَّمَ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ ، فَمَا كَانَ مِنْ نَقْصٍ ، فَلْيَكُنْ فِي الصَّفِّ الْمُؤَخَّرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: First complete the front rows, then the ones after them, and if there is any deficiency, it should be in the last row. Hadith 13440
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثًا ، وَقَالَ قَتَادَةُ : كَانَ يُقَالُ : " أَتِمُّوا الصَّفَّ الْمُقَدَّمَ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ نَقْصٌ ، فَلْيَكُنْ فِي الصَّفِّ الْمُؤَخَّرِ " .
Haddathana Hasan ibn Musa, haddathana Shayban, 'an Qatadah, and he mentioned a hadith, and Qatadah said: It used to be said: "Complete the front row, then the one that follows it, and if there is any deficiency, let it be in the last row."
Hadith 13441
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " جَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعَةُ نَفَرٍ ، كُلُّهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ ، وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ ، وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، وَأَبُو زَيْدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), four companions (may Allah be pleased with them) had memorized the entire Qur'an, and all four belonged to the Ansar: Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Abu Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 13442
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لِأُبَيٍّ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُقْرِئَكَ الْقُرْآنَ ، قَالَ : آللَّهُ سَمَّانِي لَكَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَجَعَلَ يَبْكِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once said to Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah has commanded me to recite the Qur'an to you. Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Did Allah mention me by name?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep.
Hadith 13443
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنَّ رَهْطًا مِنْ عُكْلٍ وَعُرَيْنَةَ أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّا كُنَّا نَاسًا أَهْلَ ضَرْعٍ ، وَلَمْ نَكُنْ أَهْلَ رِيفٍ ، اسْتَوْخَمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَأَمَرَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَوْدٍ وَرَاعٍ ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا فِيهَا ، فَيَشْرَبُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا وَأَبْوَالِهَا ، فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْحَرَّةِ ، قَتَلُوا رَاعِيَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَاسْتَاقُوا الذَّوْدَ ، وَكَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ ، فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي طَلَبِهِمْ ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِمْ ، فَقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ ، وَأَرْجُلَهُمْ ، وَسَمَرَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ ، وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْحَرَّةِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا وَهُمْ كَذَلِكَ ، قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : وَذُكِرَ لَنَا أَنَّ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ أُنْزِلَتْ فِيهِمْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people from the tribes of ‘Ukl and ‘Uraynah became Muslim, but the climate of Madinah did not suit them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them, “If you go to our camels and drink their milk, perhaps you will recover.” So they did so, but when they became healthy, they reverted to disbelief and apostasy. They killed the Muslim shepherd of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and drove away the Prophet’s camels. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent some companions after them, and they were captured and brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides, their eyes be branded with hot irons, and they were left in the rocky area until they died.
Hadith 13444
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ ، وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat wrapped in a cloth and performed prayer behind Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 13445
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي قُرَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ إِمَامٍ أَخَفَّ صَلَاةً مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَا أَتَمَّ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَسْمَعُ بُكَاءَ الصَّبِيِّ ، فَيُخَفِّفُ ، مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تُفْتَتَنَ أُمُّهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have not prayed behind any imam lighter and more complete prayer than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sometimes, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would shorten the prayer upon hearing the cry of a child, fearing that its mother might be distressed.
Hadith 13446
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا وُضِعَ فِي قَبْرِهِ ، وَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ، إِنَّهُ لَيَسْمَعُ خَفْقَ نِعَالِهِمْ ، فَيَأْتِيهِ مَلَكَانِ ، فَيَقُولَانِ لَهُ : مَا كُنْتَ تَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الرَّجُلِ ؟ يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : انْظُرْ إِلَى مَقْعَدِكَ فِي النَّارِ ، قَدْ أَبْدَلَكَ اللَّهُ بِهِ مَقْعَدًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيَرَاهُمَا جَمِيعًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person is buried and his companions leave, the deceased hears the sound of their footsteps. Then two angels come and make him sit up and ask him about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "What do you know about this man?" If he is a believer, he says: "I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Then a door to Hell is opened for him and it is said to him: "If you had disbelieved in your Lord, this would have been your abode. But since you believed in Him, your abode is another place." Thus, he sees both places.
Hadith 13447
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَخَلَ نَخْلًا لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ ، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتًا ، فَفَزِعَ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ أَصْحَابُ هَذِهِ الْقُبُورِ ؟ قَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، نَاسٌ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، قَالَ : " تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ ، وَفِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ تُبْتَلَى فِي قُبُورِهَا ، فَإِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا وُضِعَ فِي قَبْرِهِ ، أَتَاهُ مَلَكٌ ، فَسَأَلَهُ : مَا كُنْتَ تَعْبُدُ ؟ فَإِنِ اللَّهُ هَدَاهُ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : مَا كُنْتَ تَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الرَّجُلِ ؟ قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ : هُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ ، قَالَ : فَمَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : فَيُنْطَلَقُ بِهِ إِلَى بَيْتٍ كَانَ لَهُ فِي النَّارِ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : هَذَا بَيْتُكَ كَانَ فِي النَّارِ ، وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ عَصَمَكَ وَرَحِمَكَ ، فَأَبْدَلَكَ بِهِ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيَقُولُ : دَعُونِي حَتَّى أَذْهَبَ فَأُبَشِّرَ أَهْلِي ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : اسْكُنْ ، وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ إِذَا وُضِعَ فِي قَبْرِهِ ، أَتَاهُ مَلَكٌ ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ : مَا كُنْتَ تَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الرَّجُلِ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : كُنْتُ أَقُولُ مَا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ . فَيَضْرِبُهُ بِمِطْرَاقٍ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ بَيْنَ أُذُنَيْهِ ، فَيَصِيحُ صَيْحَةً فَيَسْمَعُهَا الْخَلْقُ غَيْرَ الثَّقَلَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person is buried and his companions leave, the deceased hears the sound of their footsteps. Then a door to Paradise is opened for him, his grave is expanded seventy cubits, and greenery is poured upon him. And if he is a disbeliever or a hypocrite, when the angel asks him: "What do you know about this man?" he replies: "I do not know anything, I only heard people saying something." The angel says to him: "You neither knew nor recited nor were guided." Then the angel strikes him with such a blow from his mace that all of Allah's creation except jinn and mankind hear its sound. Some narrators also say that his grave is made so narrow that his ribs interlock with each other.
Hadith 13448
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَخَفِّ النَّاسِ صَلَاةً فِي تَمَامٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the lightest and most complete.
Hadith 13449
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 13450
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " النُّخَاعَةُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ خَطِيئَةٌ ، وَكَفَّارَتُهَا دَفْنُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is to bury it.
Hadith 13451
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَلَا يَتْفُلْ أَمَامَهُ ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَتْفُلْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you is praying, he is conversing with his Lord, so in this state none of you should spit to his right side, rather he should spit to his left side or under his foot.
Hadith 13452
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ سَعِيدٌ عَنْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ ، فَأَخْبَرَنَا عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، فِي تَاسِعَةٍ ، وَسَابِعَةٍ ، وَخَامِسَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Seek the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan, on the ninth, seventh, and fifth nights.
Hadith 13453
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَتِمُّوا الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ ، وَاللَّهِ لَأَرَاكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظَهْرِي إِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ ، وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform bowing and prostration completely, for by Allah, I see you even from behind my back."
Hadith 13454
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، قال قَتَادَةَ : وَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ وَجَنَازَةُ سَعْدٍ مَوْضُوعَةٌ : " اهْتَزَّ لَهَا عَرْشُ الرَّحْمَنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the funeral of Hazrat Saad bin Muadh (may Allah be pleased with him) was placed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying that even the Throne of the Most Merciful shook because of him.
Hadith 13455
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ أُكَيْدِرَ دُومَةَ أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُبَّةَ حَرِيرٍ ، وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْهَى نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ ، فَلَبِسَهَا ، فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ مِنْهَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ ، لَمَنَادِيلُ سَعْدٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، أَحْسَنُ مِنْ هَذِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Ukaydir of Duma sent a garment as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). People began to marvel at its beauty. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the handkerchiefs of Sa'd, which have been given to him in Paradise, are better and more excellent than this."
Hadith 13456
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، فَقَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! قَالَ : ارْكَبْهَا وَيْحَكَ ، أَوْ : وَيْلَكَ ارْكَبْهَا " . شَكَّ هِشَامٌ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to ride it. He replied, "This is a sacrificial animal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him two or three times to ride it.
