Hadith 12899
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ : " أَهَلَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the Talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah together.
Hadith 12900
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ أَبِي الْأَسَدِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا فِي بَيْتِ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَجَاءَ رسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ ، فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَةِ الْبَابِ ، فَقَالَ : " الْأَئِمَّةُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ، وَلَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَقٌّ ، وَلَكُمْ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ ، مَا إِذَا اسْتُرْحِمُوا رَحِمُوا ، وَإِذَا حَكَمُوا عَدَلُوا ، وَإِذَا عَاهَدُوا وَفَّوْا ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ ، فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were in the house of an Ansari, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and stood holding the door panels and said: "There will be leaders from among the Quraysh, and they will have rights over you, and you will have rights over them in the same way. When people ask them for mercy, they should deal mercifully with them; when they make a promise, they should fulfill it; when they judge, they should judge with justice. Whoever does not do so, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people."
Hadith 12901
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَمَّنْ سَمِعَ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ : مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَعْدٍ وَهُوَ يَدْعُو بِأُصْبُعَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَحِّدْ يَا سَعْدُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), who was making supplication while pointing with two fingers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Sa’d! Use one finger.”
Hadith 12902
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنْ قَامَتْ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ الْقِيَامَةُ وَفِي يَدِهِ فَسِيلَةٌ ، فَلْيَغْرِسْهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If the Day of Judgment is established upon any one of you while he has a date-palm sapling in his hand, even then he should plant it.
Hadith 12903
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : سَمِعْتُ ثَابِتًا ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى رُئِيَ بَيَاضُ إِبِطَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits would become visible.
Hadith 12904
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرْحَمُ أُمَّتِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَأَشَدُّهَا فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ عُمَرُ ، وَأَصْدَقُهَا حَيَاءً عُثْمَانُ ، وَأَعْلَمُهَا بِالْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ ، وَأَقْرَؤُهَا لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ أُبَيٌّ ، وَأَعْلَمُهَا بِالْفَرَائِضِ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَمِينٌ ، وَأَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The most merciful of my Ummah towards my Ummah is Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), the strictest in matters of religion is Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the most modest and truthful in shyness is Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), the greatest scholar of what is lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), the greatest reciter of the Book of Allah is Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), the greatest scholar of inheritance is Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), and every Ummah has a trustworthy one; the trustworthy one of this Ummah is Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 12905
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ : أَيُّ اللِّبَاسِ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " الْحِبَرَةُ " .
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "Which clothing was most liked by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" He replied: The striped Yemeni cloak.
Hadith 12906
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَحْرٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَجِبْتُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَقْضِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ قَضَاءً إِلَّا كَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ " ، أَبُو بَحْرٍ اسْمُهُ ثَعْلَبَةُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: I am amazed at the believer, for whatever decision Allah makes for him, it is always better for him.
Hadith 12907
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا خَيْرَ الْبَرِيَّةِ ، قَالَ : " ذَاكَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man addressed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "O best of creation." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That was indeed Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him)."
Hadith 12908
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا خَيْرَ الْبَرِيَّةِ ، قَالَ : " ذَاكَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man addressed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "O best of creation." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That was indeed Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him)."
Hadith 12909/1
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا رَقَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ ، أَوْ غَفَلَ عَنْهَا ، فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ : وَأَقِمِ الصَّلاةَ لِذِكْرِي سورة طه آية 14 .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever forgets to pray or sleeps (and misses it), its expiation is only that he should offer it when he remembers, because Allah Almighty says: "Establish prayer for My remembrance."
Hadith 12909/2
(حديث موقوف) (حديث مرفوع) قَالَ : وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا غَزَا قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ عَضُدِي ، وَأَنْتَ نَصِيرِي ، وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ " .
And he said that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) set out for any battle, he would say: O Allah! You are my strength, You are my Lord, and through You alone I fight.
Hadith 12910
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نُضِحَ لَهُ حَصِيرٌ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ : رَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى ؟ قَالَ : لَمْ أَرَهُ إِلَّا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that water was sprinkled on a corner of a mat for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered two rak'ahs there. Upon hearing this, a man asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Duha prayer?" He replied, "I only saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offering that prayer on that day."
Hadith 12911
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَنَتَ شَهْرًا بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Qunoot Nazilah after bowing (ruku) for a month.
Hadith 12912
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَبْيَضِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءُ مُحَلِّقَةٌ ، فَأَرْجِعُ إِلَى أَهْلِي وَعَشِيرَتِي مِنْ نَاحِيَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَأَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ صَلَّى ، فَقُومُوا فَصَلُّوا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the Asr prayer when the sun was bright and in the shape of its disc. I would reach my neighborhood and house located in a corner of Madinah Munawwarah and would tell them that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has already performed the prayer, so you should also get up and perform the prayer.
Hadith 12913
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : إِنْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيُصِيبُ التَّمْرَةَ ، فَيَقُولُ : " لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَخْشَى أَنَّهَا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ، لَأَكَلْتُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would find a date lying on the road, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: If I did not fear that it might be from charity, I would have eaten it.
Hadith 12914
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ حَرامٍ عَلَى بِسَاطٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer on a bed in the house of Hazrat Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her).
Hadith 12915
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَبْلًا مَمْدُودًا بَيْنَ سَارِيَتَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " لِمَنْ هَذَا ؟ " قَالُوا لِحَمْنَةَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ : تُصَلَّي ، فَإِذَا عَجَزَتْ تَعَلَّقَتْ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " لِتُصَلِّ مَا طَاقَتْ ، فَإِذَا عَجَزَتْ فَلْتَقْعُدْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once entered the mosque and saw a rope hanging between two pillars. He asked, "What is this rope?" The people replied, "This is Zainab's rope. When she feels lazy or tired while praying, she ties herself to it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Untie it." Then he said, "When any one of you prays, he should pray as long as he is energetic, and when he feels lazy or tired, he should stop."
Hadith 12916
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 12917
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رجل مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ضَخْمٌ ، لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مَعَكَ ، فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا ، وَدَعَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَبَسَطُوا لَهُ حَصِيرًا ، وَنَضَحُوهُ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ الْجَارُودِ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى ؟ قَالَ : مَا رَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّاهَا إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a man who was very old and weak; he could not come repeatedly to pray with the Prophet (peace be upon him). He submitted to the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he did not have the strength to come again and again to pray with him, and requested that if the Prophet (peace be upon him) would come to his house one day and pray at a certain place, then he would perform his prayers there. Accordingly, he once arranged an invitation and called the Prophet (peace be upon him), and sprinkled water on a corner of a mat. The Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed two rak‘ahs there. Upon hearing this, a man from the family of Jarud asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to pray the Duha prayer. He replied that he had only seen the Prophet (peace be upon him) perform that prayer on that day.
Hadith 12918
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، فَخَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ، فَأَطَالَ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ ، فَأَطَالَ ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ، قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، صَلَّيْتَ ، فَجَعَلْتَ تُطِيلُ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ بيتك ، وَتُخَفِّفُ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ ! قَالَ : " مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ مَا فَعَلْتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once during the month of Ramadan, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and led a short prayer, then left. After quite some time, he came again and led a short prayer, then again went back and stayed inside for a long while. When morning came, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah! We were sitting here tonight, you came and led a short prayer and then went inside for a long time?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "It was because of you that I did so."
Hadith 12919
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، وَبَهْزٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأُبَيٍّ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ " قَالَ أُبَيٌّ : آللَّهُ سَمَّانِي لَكَ ؟ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ سَمَّاكَ لِي " ، قَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : فَجَعَلَ يَبْكِي .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once said to Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah has commanded me to recite the Qur'an to you. Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Did Allah mention me by name?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" Upon hearing this, Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep.
Hadith 12920
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ : مَا كَانَ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعَرَةً بَيْضَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that there were not even twenty white hairs in the blessed beard of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 12921
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَتَّابٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : بَايَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ ، فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the condition of listening and obeying, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) added the restriction of "as much as you are able."
Hadith 12922
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ ، وَأَشْجَعَ النَّاسِ ، وَأَجْوَدَ النَّاسِ ، كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَخَرَجَ النَّاسُ قِبَلَ الصَّوْتِ ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ سَبَقَهُمْ ، فَاسْتَبْرَأَ الْفَزَعَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ عُرْيٍ ، مَا عَلَيْهِ سَرْجٌ ، فِي عُنُقِهِ السَّيْفُ ، فَقَالَ : " لَمْ تُرَاعُوا " وَقَالَ لِلْفَرَسِ : " وَجَدْنَاهُ بَحْرًا " أَوْ " إِنَّهُ لَبَحْرٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most beautiful, generous, and courageous of all people. Once, the people of Madinah were frightened at night due to fear of an enemy and set out towards the source of the sound. They saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning, riding on the unsaddled horse of Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), with a sword hanging around his neck, and he was telling the people that there is nothing to worry about, do not be afraid. Regarding the horse, he said, "We found it as swift as the sea."
Hadith 12923
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنِ أَبِي عِصَامٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ ثَلَاثًا ، وَيَقُولُ : " هُوَ أَهْنَأُ ، وَأَمْرَأُ ، وَأَبْرَأُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to drink water in three breaths and said that this method is easier, more pleasant, and more beneficial.
Hadith 12924
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَزْرَةُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ أَنَسًا كَانَ يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا ، قَالَ : وَزَعَمَ أَنَسٌ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ ثَلَاثًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to drink water in three breaths, and Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) himself would also take three breaths.
Hadith 12925

Hadith 12926
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " طَافَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، فِي غُسْلٍ وَاحِدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes visit all his pure wives in a single night with only one bath.
Hadith 12927
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مَرْوَانَ الْأَصْفَرَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا قَدِمَ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بِمَ أَهْلَلْتَ ؟ " قَالَ : أَهْلَلْتُ بِمَا أَهَلَّ بِهِ نبيُّ الله ، َقَالَ : " فَإِنِّي لَوْلَا أَنَّ مَعِي الْهَدْيَ لَأَحْلَلْتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Hazrat Ali (may Allah honor his face) returned from Yemen, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "With what intention did you enter into Ihram?" He replied, "I entered into Ihram with the same intention as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If I had not brought the sacrificial animal with me, I would have come out of the state of Ihram."
Hadith 12928
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ شَجَرَةً يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ فِي ظِلِّهَا مِائَةَ عَامٍ ، لَا يَقْطَعُهَا " قَالَ : فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهِ أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Paradise, there is a tree under whose shade, if a rider travels for a hundred years, he would still not be able to cross its shade.
Hadith 12929
(حديث مرفوع) قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ذَكَرْنَا تَعْجِيلَ الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ ذَكَرَهَا فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ ، تِلْكَ صَلَاةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يَجْلِسُ أَحَدُهُمْ حَتَّى إِذَا اصْفَرَّتْ الشَّمْسُ وَكَانَتْ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ الشَّيْطَانِ أَوْ عَلَى قَرْنِ الشَّيْطَانِ قَامَ فَنَقَرَ أَرْبَعًا لَا يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ فِيهَا إِلَّا قَلِيلًا " .
Alaa ibn Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we offered the Zuhr prayer and then went to the service of Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). Shortly after, he stood up to offer the Asr prayer. When he finished the prayer, we said to him, "Asr prayer so early?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'That is the prayer of the hypocrite, that the hypocrite keeps delaying the prayer until the sun is between the two horns of Satan, then he stands up and pecks out four pecks (prays hastily), and remembers Allah very little in it.'"
Hadith 12930
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " رُؤْيَا الْمُؤْمِنِ أَوْ الْمُسْلِمِ جُزْءٌ مِنْ سِتَّةٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنَ النُّبُوَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim's dream is one forty-sixth part of prophethood.
Hadith 12931
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 12932
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ ، وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ الْمِغْفَرُ ، فَلَمَّا نَزَعَهُ ، جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فقَالَ : ابْنُ خَطَلٍ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " اقْتُلُوهُ " ، قَالَ مَالِكٌ : وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُحْرِمًا ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah, he was wearing a helmet. Someone came and informed that Ibn Akhtal is clinging to the curtains of the Ka'bah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Even then, kill him." Umm Malik (may Allah have mercy on her) says that on that day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was not in the state of Ihram.
Hadith 12933
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَتَزَوَّجَهَا " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتٌ مَا أَصْدَقَهَا ؟ قَالَ : نَفْسَهَا ، أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and then married her. The narrator asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu Hamzah! How much was the dowry that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her?" He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made her freedom itself her dowry and married her on that basis.
Hadith 12934
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ أَرْبَعًا وَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I offered four rak‘ahs with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah Munawwarah and two rak‘ahs in Dhul-Hulaifah.
Hadith 12935
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ وَسَوَّاقٌ يَسُوقُ بِهِنَّ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَنْجَشَةُ ، فَقَالَ : " وَيْحَكَ يَا أَنْجَشَةُ ، رُوَيْدَكَ سَوْقَكَ بِالْقَوَارِيرِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو قِلَابَةَ : تَكَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ ، لَوْ تَكَلَّمَ بِهَا بَعْضُكُمْ لَعِبْتُمُوهَا عَلَيْهِ ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ : " سَوْقَكَ بِالْقَوَارِيرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man, whose name was Anjasha, was driving the mounts of the Mothers of the Believers. He began to drive the animals quickly. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Anjasha! Drive these glass vessels gently."
Hadith 12936
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو رَجَاءٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عن أبي قِلابةَ ، قَالَ : أَنَا أُحَدِّثُكُمْ حَدِيثَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ إِيَّايَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ نَفَرًا مِنْ عُكْلٍ ، ثَمَانِيَةً ، قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَايَعُوهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ، فَاسْتَوْخَمُوا الْأَرْضَ ، فَسَقِمَتْ أَجْسَامُهُمْ ، فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " أَلَا تَخْرُجُونَ مَعَ رَاعِينَا فِي إِبِلِهِ ، فَتُصِيبُونَ مِنْ أَبْوَالِهَا وَأَلْبَانِهَا " قَالُوا : بَلَى ، فَخَرَجُوا ، فَشَرِبُوا مِنْ أَبْوَالِهَا وَأَلْبَانِهَا ، فَصَحُّوا فَقَتَلُوا الرَّاعِيَ ، وَأَطْرَدُوا النَّعَمَ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَرْسَلَ فِي آثَارِهِمْ فَأُدْرِكُوا ، فَجِيءَ بِهِمْ ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِمْ ، فَقُطِّعَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُمْ ، وَسُمِرَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ ، ثُمَّ نُبِذُوا فِي الشَّمْسِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that eight men from the tribe of ‘Ukl came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and accepted Islam, but the climate of Madinah did not suit them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them, “If you go to our camels and drink their milk, perhaps you will recover.” So they did so, but when they became healthy, they reverted to disbelief and turned back from Islam. They killed the Muslim shepherd of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and drove away the Prophet’s camels. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent some companions after them, they were captured and brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides, hot iron rods were passed through their eyes, and they were left in the rocky area until they died.
Hadith 12937
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَنِ الثُّومِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ شَيْئًا ، فَلَا يَقْرَبَنَّ أَوْ لَا يُصَلِّيَنَّ مَعَنَا " .
Once someone asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about garlic, so he replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever eats from this tree should not come near us, or should not pray with us.
