Hadith 12978
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ أَخْضَرَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ (۲) قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ: لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ حُنَيْنٍ، وَجَمَعَتْ هَوَازِنُ وَغَطَفَانُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جَمْعًا كَثِيرًا وَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي عَشَرَةِ آلَافٍ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ، وَمَعَهُ الطَّلَقَاءُ، فَجَاءُوا بِالنَّعَمِ وَالذُّرِّيَّةِ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

Hadith 12979
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي مثنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَزُورُ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ ، وَلَهَا ابْنٌ صَغِيرٌ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : أَبُو عُمَيْرٍ ، وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ ، مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ ؟ " قَالَ : نُغَرٌ يَلْعَبُ بِهِ ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَزُورُ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ أَحْيَانًا ، وَيَتَحَدَّثُ عِنْدَهَا ، فَتُدْرِكُهُ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَيُصَلِّي عَلَى بِسَاطٍ ، وَهُوَ حَصِيرٌ يَنْضَحُهُ بِالْمَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). She had a small son whose name was Abu Umair. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "O Abu Umair! What happened to the Nughair?" It was a small bird with which he used to play. Sometimes, when the time for prayer would come, Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) would spread a prayer mat for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), upon which he would sprinkle water and then perform the prayer.
Hadith 12980
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ " أَنَّ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ وَعَبَّادَ بْنَ بِشْرٍ كَانَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ظَلْمَاءَ حِنْدِسٍ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا خَرَجَا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ ، أَضَاءَتْ عَصَا أَحَدِهِمَا ، فَكَانَا يَمْشِيَانِ بِضَوْئِهَا ، فَلَمَّا تَفَرَّقَا أَضَاءَتْ عَصَا هَذَا وَعَصَا هَذَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during the night, Hazrat Usaid bin Hudair (may Allah be pleased with him) and another companion were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) discussing some matter. During this, a large part of the night passed and it was very dark. When they left the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to go home, one of them had a staff in his hand. The staff of one of the men became illuminated, and they began to walk in its light. When both of them separated to go their own ways, the staff of the other man also became illuminated.
Hadith 12981
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنْ قَامَتْ السَّاعَةُ وَبِيَدِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَسِيلَةٌ ، فَإِنْ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ لَا يَقُومَ حَتَّى يَغْرِسَهَا ، فَلْيَفْعَلْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If the Day of Judgment is established upon one of you while he has a date-palm sapling in his hand, then even if possible, he should plant it.
Hadith 12982
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ مَعَ جَدِّي دَارَ الْإِمَارَةِ ، فَإِذَا دَجَاجَةٌ مَصْبُورَةٌ تُرْمَى ، فَكُلَّمَا أَصَابَهَا سَهْمٌ صَاحَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُصْبَرَ الْبَهَائِمُ " .
Hisham bin Zaid says that once I entered the governor's house with my grandfather, where a chicken was tied up and people were shooting at it for target practice. Whenever an arrow hit it, the chicken would scream. Upon seeing this, my grandfather said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade using a tied animal for target practice.
Hadith 12983
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ ، وَحُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " دَخَلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ ، فَرَأَيْتُ قَصْرًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : لِمَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا : لِفَتًى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ، فَظَنَنْتُهُ لِي ، فَإِذَا هُوَ لِعُمَرَ " قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مَنَعَنِي يَا أَبَا حَفْصٍ أَنْ أَدْخُلَهُ إِلَّا مَا أَعْرِفُ مِنْ غَيْرَتِكَ " قَالَ : قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَنْ كُنْتُ أَغَارُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَغَارُ عَلَيْكَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Once I entered Paradise and there I saw a palace made of gold. I asked, "Whose palace is this?" People replied, "It belongs to a young man from the Quraysh." I asked, "Who is he?" People replied, "Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I had not known about your sense of honor (ghayrah), I would certainly have entered it. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I may express my sense of honor before anyone, but I cannot do so before you."
Hadith 12984
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَأَصْحَابُهُ مَعَهُ إِذْ جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَبَالَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ : مَهْ ، مَهْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تُزْرِمُوهُ ، دَعُوهُ " ثُمَّ دَعَاهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْمَسَاجِدَ لَا تَصْلُحُ لِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْقَذَرِ وَالْبَوْلِ وَالْخَلَاءِ " أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّمَا هِيَ لِقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةِ " فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ : " قُمْ فَأْتِنَا بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ ، فَشُنَّهُ عَلَيْهِ " فَأَتَاهُ بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَشَنَّهُ عَلَيْهِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in the mosque with his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), when a Bedouin came and began to urinate in the mosque. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) tried to stop him to warn him, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not stop him, let him be." After he had finished, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and said, "It is not appropriate to have any kind of filth, urine, or feces in these mosques. These mosques are for the recitation of the Holy Qur'an, remembrance of Allah, and prayer." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told a man, "Go and bring a bucket of water and pour it over it." So that man brought a bucket of water and poured it over the urine.
Hadith 12985
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ قَائِمًا يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِهِ ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَاطَّلَعَ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي بَيْتِهِ : فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَهْمًا مِنْ كِنَانَتِهِ ، فَسَدَّدَهُ نَحْوَ عَيْنَيْهِ حَتَّى انْصَرَفَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing and offering prayer in his house when a man came and began to look inside through a hole. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took an arrow from his quiver and pointed it towards him, so the man moved back.
Hadith 12986
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَجِيءُ الدَّجَّالُ فَيَطَأُ الْأَرْضَ ، إِلَّا مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةَ ، فَيَأْتِي الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَيَجِدُ بِكُلِّ نَقْبٍ مِنْ نِقَابِهَا صُفُوفًا مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ ، فَيَأْتِي سَبْخَةَ الْجَرْفِ ، فَيَضْرِبُ رِوَاقَهُ ، فَتَرْجُفُ الْمَدِينَةُ ثَلَاثَ رَجَفَاتٍ ، فَيَخْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ كُلُّ مُنَافِقٍ وَمُنَافِقَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the Dajjal comes, he will trample all the earth with his feet except for Makkah and Madinah. He will also try to enter Madinah, but he will find rows of angels at every gate of it. Then he will reach the wilderness of "Jurf" and pitch his tent there. At that time, three earthquakes will occur in Madinah, and every hypocrite man and woman will leave Madinah and join the Dajjal.
Hadith 12987
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If there had been no migration, I would have been one of the Ansar.
Hadith 12988
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَقَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةَ ، قَالَ : " أَيُّكُمْ الْقَائِلُ كَذَا وَكَذَا ؟ " قَالَ : فَأَرَمَّ الْقَوْمُ ، قَالَ : فَأَعَادَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّار ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا قُلْتُهَا ، وَمَا أَرَدْتُ بِهَا إِلَّا الْخَيْرَ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَقَدْ ابْتَدَرَهَا اثْنَا عَشَرَ مَلَكًا ، فَمَا دَرَوْا كَيْفَ يَكْتُبُونَهَا حَتَّى سَأَلُوا رَبَّهُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، قَالَ : اكْتُبُوهَا كَمَا قَالَ عَبْدِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the prayer had been established when a man came quickly, his breath was heavy, and upon reaching the row he said, "Alhamdulillah hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feehi." After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Who among you spoke?" He had said a good thing. So that man said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I spoke. I was coming quickly and upon reaching near the row, I said this phrase." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I saw twelve angels rushing towards it to see who would raise this phrase first, but they did not understand how much reward to write for it, so they asked Allah Almighty. Allah Almighty said, 'Write these words as My servant has said them.'"
Hadith 12989
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَسِيرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِنَهَرٍ ، حَافَّتَاهُ قِبَابُ الدُّرِّ الْمُجَوَّفِ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : مَا هَذَا يَا جِبْرِيلُ ؟ قَالَ : هَذَا الْكَوْثَرُ الَّذِي أَعْطَاكَ رَبُّكَ " عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، قَالَ : " فَضَرَبْتُ بِيَدِي ، فَإِذَا طِينُهُ مِسْكٌ أَذْفَرُ " ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ : " الْمُجَوَّفُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I entered Paradise and suddenly saw a river on whose banks were tents made of pearls. I put my hand into it and caught something flowing in the water, and it was fragrant musk. I asked Jibreel (peace be upon him), "What is this?" He replied, "This is the River Kawthar which Allah has granted to you."
Hadith 12990
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَنَتَ شَهْرًا ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Qunoot Nazilah for a month, then he abandoned it.
Hadith 12991
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اعْتَدِلُوا فِي السُّجُودِ ، وَلَا يَبْسُطْ أَحَدُكُمْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ كَالْكَلْبِ ، وَلَا يَبْزُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، فَإِنَّمَا يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ ، وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Maintain moderation in prostrations, and none of you should spread his hands like a dog. And when any one of you is praying, he is conversing with his Lord, so in this state none of you should spit to his right side, but rather to his left side or under his foot.
Hadith 12992
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : قال : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، أَنَّ أَنَسًا أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ الزُّبَيْرَ وَعَبْدَ الَّرحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ شَكَوَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقَمْلَ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَا فِي غَزَاةٍ لَهُمَا ، فَرَخَّصَ لَهُمَا فِي قَمِيصِ الْحَرِيرِ ، قَالَ بَهْزٌ : قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَرَأَيْتُ عَلَى كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا قَمِيصًا مِنْ حَرِيرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about lice. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted them permission to wear silk garments, so I saw each of them wearing a silk shirt.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حدثنا هَمَّامٌ ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا ، وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ : أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ : " وَيْلَكَ ، وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لِلسَّاعَةِ ؟ " قَالَ : مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا شَيْئًا ، إِلَّا أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " قَالَ : قَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ : نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَأَنْتُمْ كَذَلِكَ " قَالَ : فَفَرِحُوا يَوْمَئِذٍ فَرَحًا شَدِيدًا ، قَالَ : فَمَرَّ غُلَامٌ لِلْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَقْرَانِي ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنْ يُؤَخَّرْ هَذَا ، فَلَنْ يُدْرِكَهُ الْهَرَمُ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ " ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ فَفَرِحْنَا بِهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَرَحًا شَدِيدًا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a Bedouin came and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) be established?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What preparation have you made for the Hour?" He replied, "I have not prepared many good deeds, but I do love Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You will be with those whom you love." Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Is this ruling for us as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! This ruling is for you as well." Thus, I have never seen the Muslims as happy as they were on that day after accepting Islam. Meanwhile, a slave of Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), "who was my age," passed by, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If he lives, he will not reach old age before the Hour is established."
Hadith 12994
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَخَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : لَمْ يَبْلُغْ ذَلِكَ ، إِنَّمَا كَانَ شَيْءٌ فِي صُدْغَيْهِ ، وَلَكِنْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ خَضَبَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ " .
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) use dye?" He replied, "That situation never arose; the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had only a few white hairs at his temples. However, Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) used to dye his hair with henna and katam."
Hadith 12995
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ يَهُودِيًّا مَرَّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّمَا قَالَ : " السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ " فَأُخِذَ الْيَهُودِيُّ ، فَجِيءَ بِهِ ، فَاعْتَرَفَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رُدُّوا عَلَيْهِمْ مَا قَالُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) by saying "As-Saam Alaikum" (death be upon you). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "He said 'As-Saam Alaikum'." The Jew was brought and he admitted it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When a person of the Book greets you, reply to him with the same phrase."
Hadith 12996
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حدثنا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " لَوْ أَنَّ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَيْنِ مِنْ مَالٍ ، إذا لَابْتَغَى وَادِيًا ثَالِثًا ، وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ " ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ " ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ " ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنِ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَيْنِ " فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: If the son of Adam had two valleys full of wealth, he would desire a third one, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except the dust of the grave. And whoever repents, Allah accepts his repentance.
Hadith 12997
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : «لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَانِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 12998
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، وَحَدَّثَنِي بَهْزٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ : عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَهْرَمُ ابْنُ آدَمَ وَيَشِبُّ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَانِ الْحِرْصُ عَلَى الْمَالِ ، وَالْحِرْصُ عَلَى الْعُمُرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person grows old, but two things remain young in him: the desire for wealth and the hope for a long life.
Hadith 12999
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ نَخْلًا لِأُمِّ مُبَشِّرٍ ، امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ غَرَسَ هَذَا الْغَرْسَ ؟ أَمُسْلِمٌ أَمْ كَافِرٌ ؟ " قَالُوا : مُسْلِمٌ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَغْرِسُ مُسْلِمٌ غَرْسًا ، فَيَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ إِنْسَانٌ أَوْ دَابَّةٌ أَوْ طَائِرٌ ، إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ صَدَقَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the garden of an Ansari woman named Mubashir and asked, "Has this garden been planted by a Muslim or a disbeliever?" The people replied, "A Muslim." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whenever a Muslim plants a tree, and any bird, human, or animal eats from it, it is regarded as charity for him."
Hadith 13000
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَوَّامِ الْقَطَّانُ وَهُوَ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ دَاوَرَ وَهُوَ أَعْمَى ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " اسْتَخْلَفَ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ وَهُوَ أَعْمَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Hazrat Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) as his deputy in Madinah Munawwarah twice. He was blind and used to lead the people in prayer.
Hadith 13001
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْتَجِمُ ثَلَاثًا : وَاحِدَةً عَلَى كَاهِلِهِ ، وَاثْنَتَيْنِ عَلَى الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have cupping done twice on the points called Akhda’ain and once on the specific place between the shoulders called Kahil.
Hadith 13002
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ : كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " كَانَ يَمُدُّ صَوْتَهُ مَدًّا " .
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I once asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the manner of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation, so he replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prolong his voice.
Hadith 13003
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ قَوْلٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ ، وَعَمَلٍ لَا يُرْفَعُ ، وَقَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ ، وَعِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from a word that is not heard, a deed that is not elevated, a heart devoid of humility, and knowledge that is of no benefit.
Hadith 13004
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ ، وَالْجُنُونِ ، وَالْجُذَامِ ، وَمِنْ سَيِّئِ الْأَسْقَامِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: (اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْبَرَصِ وَالْجُنُونِ وَالْجُذَامِ وَمِنْ سَيِّئِ الْأَسْقَامِ) "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, madness, leprosy, and from every evil disease."
Hadith 13005
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِالتَّمْرَةِ ، فَمَا يَمْنَعُهُ مِنْ أَخْذِهَا إِلَّا مَخَافَةُ أَنْ تَكُونَ صَدَقَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would find a date lying on the road, and if he did not fear that it might be from charity, he would eat it.
Hadith 13006
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ جَارِيَةً وُجِدَ رَأْسُهَا بَيْنَ حَجَرَيْنِ ، فَقِيلَ لَهَا : مَنْ فَعَلَ بِكِ هَذَا ؟ أَفُلَانٌ ؟ أَفُلَانٌ ؟ حَتَّى سَمَّى الْيَهُودِيَّ ، فَأَوْمَأَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا نَعَمْ ، فَأُخِذَ الْيَهُودِيُّ ، فَاعْتَرَفَ ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَرُضَّ رَأْسُهُ بِالْحِجَارَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew struck an Ansari girl with stones and crushed her head. The girl was asked, "Did so-and-so do this to you? Did so-and-so do this to you?"—until when the name of that Jew was mentioned, she indicated yes with a nod of her head. That Jew was caught and brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He confessed to his crime. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered, and his head was also crushed with stones.
Hadith 13007
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلَالٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " وَعَدَنِي رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُدْخِلَ لي مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْجَنَّةَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ " فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، زِدْنَا ، فقَالَ لَهُ : " وَهَكَذَا " وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ ، قَالَ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، زِدْنَا ، فَقَالَ : " وَهَكَذَا " وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ ، قَالَ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، زِدْنَا ، قَالَ : " وَهَكَذَا " فَقَالَ له عُمَرُ قَطْكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ : مَا لَنَا وَلَكَ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَادِرٌ أَنْ يُدْخِلَ النَّاسَ الْجَنَّةَ كُلَّهُمْ بِحَفْنَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَدَقَ عُمَرُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has promised me that He will admit four hundred thousand people from my Ummah into Paradise. Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Increase this number." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) joined his palms together and said, "This many more will be added." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) again submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Increase this number." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again joined his palms together and said, "This many more will be added." Upon this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Abu Bakr! That is enough." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Umar! Step back. If Allah Almighty admits all of us into Paradise completely, there is no harm for you in it." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If Allah wills, He can admit all creation into Paradise in a single handful." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Umar speaks the truth."
Hadith 13008
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَزَالُ الْعَبْدُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا لَمْ يَسْتَعْجِلْ " قَالُوا : يَا نبيَّ الله ، كَيْفَ يَسْتَعْجِلُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَقُولُ دَعَوْتُ رَبِّي فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِبْ لِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A servant remains on goodness as long as he does not act with haste. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is meant by haste? He replied: That a servant begins to say, "I have made so many supplications to my Lord, but He has not accepted them."
Hadith 13009
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ ، لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا ، وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much.
Hadith 13010
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ " وَرَفَعَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى : فَضَّلَ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I and the Hour have been sent like these two fingers together." Saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards his index finger and middle finger.
Hadith 13011
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ : حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : كُنَّا قد نُهِينَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ نَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُنَا أَنْ يَجِيءَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ ، الْعَاقِلُ ، فيَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، أَتَانَا رَسُولُكَ ، وَزَعَمَ لَنَا أَنَّكَ تَزْعُمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَرْسَلَكَ ! قَالَ : " صَدَقَ " قَالَ : فَمَنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاءَ ؟ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ " قَالَ : فَمَنْ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ ؟ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ " قَالَ : فَمَنْ نَصَبَ هَذِهِ الْجِبَالَ ؟ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ " قَالَ : فَبِالَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاءَ ، وَخَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ ، وَنَصَبَ الْجِبَالَ ، آللَّهُ أَرْسَلَكَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " قَالَ : وَزَعَمَ رَسُولُكَ أَنَّ عَلَيْنَا خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي يَوْمِنَا وَلَيْلَتِنَا ! قَالَ " صَدَقَ " قَالَ : فَبِالَّذِي أَرْسَلَكَ ، آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قَالَ : وَزَعَمَ رَسُولُكَ أَنَّ عَلَيْنَا زَكَاةً فِي أَمْوَالِنَا ! قَالَ : " صَدَقَ " قَالَ : فَبِالَّذِي أَرْسَلَكَ ، آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قَالَ : وَزَعَمَ رَسُولُكَ أَنَّ عَلَيْنَا صَوْمَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فِي سَنَتِنَا ! قَالَ عَفَّانُ قَالَ : " صَدَقَ " قَالَ : فَبِالَّذِي أَرْسَلَكَ ، آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، وَزَعَمَ رَسُولُكَ أَنَّ عَلَيْنَا الْحَجَّ مَنْ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا ! قَالَ : " صَدَقَ " قَالَ : فَبِالَّذِي أَرْسَلَكَ ، آللَّهُ أَمَرَكَ بِهَذَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " قَالَ عَفَّانُ : ثُمَّ وَلَّى ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ ، لَا أَزِيدُ وَلَا أَنْتَقِصُ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَئِنْ صَدَقَ ، لَيَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that (since) we were forbidden in the Qur'an from asking the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) too many questions, we used to wish in our hearts that some intelligent Bedouin would come and ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about some issue so that we could listen. So (once) a Bedouin came and presented himself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Your messenger came to us and said that you claim Allah has made you a Prophet?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "He spoke the truth." The Bedouin asked, "Who created the heavens, the earth, and the mountains?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The Lord did." The Bedouin said, "I ask you by the One Who created the heavens and the earth and established the mountains, (tell me) has Allah really sent you as a Messenger?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" The Bedouin said, "Your messenger said that five prayers are obligatory upon us in the day and night." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "He spoke the truth." The Bedouin said, "I ask you by Allah, Who sent you as a Messenger (tell me), did Allah command you this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" The Bedouin said, "Your messenger said that it is obligatory upon us to give zakat from our wealth?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "He spoke the truth." He said, "By Allah, Who sent you, did He command you this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" He said, "Your messenger also said that fasting for one month in the year is obligatory upon us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "He spoke the truth." The Bedouin said, "I ask you by Allah, Who made you a Prophet (tell me), did Allah command you this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" The Bedouin said, "Your messenger also said that Hajj is obligatory upon those among us who are able?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "He spoke the truth." In the end, the Bedouin turned his back and as he was leaving, he said, "By Allah, Who has sent you with the truth, I will neither add to this nor decrease anything from it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If he is truthful, he will enter Paradise."
Hadith 13012
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْمَعْنَى ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَجِئْتُ فَقُمْتُ خَلْفَهُ ، قَالَ : وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَامَ إِلَى جَنْبِي ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ آخَرُ حَتَّى كُنَّا رَهْطًا ، فَلَمَّا أَحَسَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّا خَلْفَهُ تَجَوَّزَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ ، فَدَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ ، فَصَلَّى صَلَاةً لَمْ يُصَلِّهَا عِنْدَنَا ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا قَالَ : قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَطِنْتَ بِنَا اللَّيْلَةَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، فَذَاكَ الَّذِي حَمَلَنِي عَلَى الَّذِي صَنَعْتُ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَخَذَ يُوَاصِلُ وَذَاكَ فِي آخِرِ الشَّهْرِ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ رِجَالٌ يُوَاصِلُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ يُوَاصِلُونَ ، إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ مِثْلِي ، أَمَا وَاللَّهِ لَوْ مُدَّ لِي الشَّهْرُ لَوَاصَلْتُ وِصَالًا يَدَعُ الْمُتَعَمِّقُونَ تَعَمُّقَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once during the month of Ramadan, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading the prayer. I came and stood behind him, then another man came and stood with me, and in this way, a congregation was formed. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sensed my presence behind him, he shortened the prayer and went to his house, and there he offered such a prayer as he had not offered in front of us. In the morning, we submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Did you realize our presence last night?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, and that is why I did so." Then, at the end of the month, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) observed continuous fasting (Saum Wisal). Some people did the same. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed, he said, "What is wrong with the people that they are observing Wisal? If this month had been prolonged, I would have fasted continuously for so many days that those who go to extremes in religion would have abandoned their extremism. I am not like you; (my Lord feeds me and gives me drink)."
Hadith 13013
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا أَنَا وَأُمِّي وَأُمُّ حَرَامٍ خَالَتِي ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " قُومُوا فَلِأُصَلِّي لَكُمْ " فِي غَيْرِ وَقْتِ صَلَاةٍ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : فَصَلَّى بِنَا صَلَاةً ، قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ لِثَابِتٍ أَيْنَ جَعَلَ أَنَسًا ؟ قَالَ : جَعَلَهُ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ قَالَ : ثُمَّ دَعَا لَنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ أُمِّي : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، خُوَيْدِمُكَ ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ لَهُ ، قَالَ : فَدَعَا لِي بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ ، قَالَ بَهْزٌ بخير وَكَانَ فِي آخِرِ مَا دَعَا بِهِ لي ، قال : " اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالَهُ وَوَلَدَهُ ، وَبَارِكْ لَهُ فِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house. At that time, besides my father and my maternal aunt Umm Haram, there was no one else in the house. It was not the time for prayer, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Get up, I will lead you in prayer." (So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, led us in prayer.) The narrator asked Thabit, "Where did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) make Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) stand?" He replied, "On his right side." In any case, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for all the good of this world and the Hereafter for our family. Then my mother said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Please pray for your servant Anas." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for every good of this world and the Hereafter for me and said, "O Allah! Grant him wealth and children and bless them for him."
Hadith 13014
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حدثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ : حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وُلِدَ لِي اللَّيْلَةَ غُلَامٌ فَسَمَّيْتُهُ بِاسْمِ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ " قَالَ : ثُمَّ دَفَعَهُ إِلَى أُمِّ سَيْفٍ امْرَأَةِ قَيْنٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ : أَبُو سَيْفٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِيهِ ، وَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ ، فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى أَبِي سَيْفٍ وَهُوَ يَنْفُخُ بِكِيرِهِ ، وَقَدْ امْتَلَأَ الْبَيْتُ دُخَانًا ، قَالَ : فَأَسْرَعْتُ الْمَشْيَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا سَيْفٍ ، جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : فَأَمْسَكَ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَا بِالصَّبِيِّ فَضَمَّهُ إِلَيْهِ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَكِيدُ بِنَفْسِهِ ، قَالَ : فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَدْمَعُ الْعَيْنُ ، وَيَحْزَنُ الْقَلْبُ ، وَلَا نَقُولُ إِلَّا مَا يُرْضِي رَبَّنَا ، وَاللَّهِ إِنَّا بِكَ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ لَمَحْزُونُونَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tonight a child has been born to me, and I have named him after my ancestor, Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted Hazrat Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him) to the wife of a blacksmith of Madinah, whose name was Abu Saif, for nursing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go there to visit the child. I also went with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When we arrived, Abu Saif was blowing the bellows of the furnace and the whole house was filled with smoke. I walked quickly ahead of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and reached Abu Saif and said to him, "Abu Saif! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has arrived." So he stopped.
Hadith 13015
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَنَسٌ عَمِّي : قَالَ هَاشِمٌ : أَنَسُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ ، سُمِّيتُ بِهِ لَمْ يَشْهَدْ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، قَالَ : فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِ ، وَقَالَ : فأَوَّلِ مَشْهَدٍ شَهِدَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غِبْتُ عَنْهُ ! لَئِنْ أَرَانِي اللَّهُ مَشْهَدًا فِيمَا بَعْدُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَرَيَنَّ اللَّهُ مَا أَصْنَعُ ، قَالَ : فَهَابَ أَنْ يَقُولَ غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : فَشَهِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ، قَالَ : فَاسْتَقْبَلَ سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لَهُ أَنَسٌ : يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو ، أَيْنَ ؟ قَالَ : وَاهًا لِرِيحِ الْجَنَّةِ أَجِدُهُ دُونَ أُحُدٍ ، قَالَ : فَقَاتَلَهُمْ حَتَّى قُتِلَ ، فَوُجِدَ فِي جَسَدِهِ بِضْعٌ وَثَمَانُونَ مِنْ ضَرْبَةٍ ، وَطَعْنَةٍ ، وَرَمْيَةٍ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَتْ أُخْتُهُ : عَمَّتِي الرُّبَيِّعُ بِنْتُ النَّضْرِ فَمَا عَرَفْتُ أَخِي إِلَّا بِبَنَانِهِ ، وَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلا سورة الأحزاب آية 23 ، قَالَ : فَكَانُوا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ وَفِي أَصْحَابِهِ .
The Prophet (peace be upon him) arrived there and called for the child and embraced him to his chest. I saw that the child was struggling between life and death in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Seeing this state, tears flowed from the eyes of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said, "The eyes weep, the heart is heavy with grief, but we will only say that which pleases our Lord. By Allah! O Ibrahim! We are grieved at your separation."
Hadith 13016
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَنَسٌ : إِنِّي لَقَاعِدٌ عِنْدَ الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ ، إِذْ قَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، حُبِسَ الْمَطَرُ ، هَلَكَتْ الْمَوَاشِي ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَسْقِيَنَا ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمَا أَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ مِنْ سَحَابٍ ، فَأُلِّفَ بَيْنَ السَّحَابِ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : فَأَلَّفَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ السَّحَابِ ، فَوَأَلْنَا ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : سَعَيْنَا حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الرَّجُلَ الشَّدِيدَ تَهُمُّهُ نَفْسُهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَهْلَهُ ، فَمُطِرْنَا سَبْعًا ، وَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ الْمُقْبِلَةِ ، إِذْ قَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تَهَدَّمَتْ الْبُيُوتُ ، حُبِسَ السِّفَارُ ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا عَنَّا ، قَالَ : فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا " قَالَ : فَتَقَوَّرَ مَا فَوْقَ رَأْسِنَا مِنْهَا ، حَتَّى كَأَنَّا فِي إِكْلِيلٍ ، يُمْطَرُ مَا حَوْلَنَا وَلَا نُمْطَرُ .
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands in supplication. He replied that once, on a Friday, people said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The rain has stopped, the land has become dry, and wealth is being destroyed." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands so high that the whiteness of his blessed armpits became visible to me, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for rain. At the time when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed hands, we could not see any clouds in the sky, but when the prayer was finished, the young men living in nearby houses found it difficult to return to their homes. When the next Friday came, people said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The buildings of the houses have collapsed and the riders have been forced to stop outside Madinah." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled at the impatience of the son of Adam and prayed to Allah: "O Allah! Let this rain fall around us, not upon us." So the rain was diverted away from Madinah.
Hadith 13017
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَدَحٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ : أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : فَأَنْتُمْ ؟ قَالَ : كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : مَا لَمْ نُحْدِثْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a vessel of water was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for ablution, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution from it. The narrator says: I asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) perform a new ablution for every prayer?" He replied, "Yes!" The narrator then asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "What did you people do?" He replied, "We used to perform several prayers with the same ablution until we lost our ablution."
