It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the muezzin would stand and give the call to Maghrib prayer in the Prophet's Mosque, then after that, whoever wished would perform two rak'ahs until the congregational prayer was established, and whoever wished would perform two rak'ahs and then sit down, and all of this would happen in front of the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

At that time, the Iqamah had been pronounced, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to lead the prayer. After finishing the prayer, he said, "Where is the one who asked about the Hour?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I am here." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What preparation have you made for the Hour?" He said, "I have not prepared many good deeds, prayers, or fasts, but I do have this much: I love Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A person will be with the one whom he loves on the Day of Judgment." Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "I have never seen the Muslims as happy as they were on that day after accepting Islam."

The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) came to visit the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in prayer while sitting, whereas the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) remained standing. When the time for the next prayer came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Follow your Imam; if he prays standing, then you should also pray standing, and if he prays sitting, then you should also pray sitting with him. In short, after 29 days had passed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came down. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You had taken an oath of abstention for a month?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Sometimes a month is also of 29 days."

Then, as usual, he returned and went to the house of the pure wives and greeted them, and they prayed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he returned again. When he reached home, he saw that two men were engaged in conversation with each other in a corner of the house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), upon seeing them, turned back and left. When those two saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) leaving his house, they quickly stood up. Now I do not remember whether I informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of their departure or someone else did. In any case, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned home.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, when Allah granted the spoils of Banu Hawazin to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) began giving one hundred camels each to Uyaina, Aqra’, and others, some of the Ansar said, "May Allah forgive the Prophet (peace be upon him); he is giving to the Quraysh and ignoring us, while the drops of blood are still dripping from our swords." When the Prophet (peace be upon him) learned of this, he called the Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and said, "Are you not pleased that people go away with wealth and property, and you return home with the Messenger of Allah?" They replied, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)!" Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace be upon him), if people were to walk in one valley and the Ansar in another, I would choose the valley and mountain pass of the Ansar. The Ansar are my shield, and if there had been no migration, I would have been one of the Ansar."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that my uncle Anas bin Nadr could not participate in the Battle of Badr with the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he was regretful about it. He used to say, "I could not participate in the very first battle with the Prophet (peace be upon him). If now Allah grants me the opportunity to go to any battle with the Prophet (peace be upon him), then Allah will see what I do." Thus, he participated in the Battle of Uhud with the Prophet (peace be upon him). On that occasion, when the Muslims were scattered, he said, "O Allah! I seek excuse from You for what my companions have done, and I declare my disassociation from the attack of the polytheists." Then he moved forward and saw Hazrat Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) coming towards him from the front. He said to him, "Abu Amr! Where are you going? By Allah! I am smelling the fragrance of Paradise from behind Uhud." Hazrat Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I am with you." But later he used to say, "What Sa'd bin Mu'adh did, I could not do." And more than eighty marks of spears, swords, and arrows were found on his body. We used to think that this verse was revealed about Hazrat Sa'd bin Mu'adh and other companions like him: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some are still waiting."

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with his final illness, on one occasion Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to inform the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the prayer. After the second time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Bilal! You have conveyed the message. Whoever wishes may pray, and whoever wishes may leave it." Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) turned back and asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! May my parents be sacrificed for you, who will lead the people in prayer?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Go and tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." When Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward to lead the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew back the curtain of his house. It seemed as if a white paper was there and a sheet had been placed over it. Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to step back, thinking that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wished to come for the prayer, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) signaled to him to remain standing and complete the prayer. Thus, Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer, and after that, we did not see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Then he said: "Shall I tell you who are the best people after them?" The people said, "Why not." He said: "The Banu Harith bin Khazraj." Then he said: "Shall I tell you who are the best people after them?" The people said, "Why not." He said: "The Banu Sa'idah." Then he raised his voice and said: "There is goodness in every house of the Ansar."

The number of men will decrease and the number of women will increase, to the extent that one man will be responsible for fifty women.
